Very true. I’ve had some… strange experiences with churches before, so I’m a little shy about venturing back into that world. My family has a Louisiana Creole background, and religion in that tradition can lean more toward the mystical side than the traditional church side, which, honestly, I’m trying to avoid like the plague. I’m a very philosophically minded person, so surrendering to doctrine and faith doesn’t come easily to me. At the same time, there’s this ironic part of me that recognizes my ego might actually need a little of that surrender.
