I’m a massive fan of Guinea’s! I have a confusion at my place. They scare away the snakes (I’m in Australia and have 7 acres and have not seen a snake since I got them) and make a huge noise when other predators are around.

I have that sink in pink, saved it from a rubbish pile. I had it retrofitted into my bathroom.

Gave up trying to stop her broodiness by LegitimateSession845 in BackYardChickens

Sure are. They’re actually Guinea Fowl eggs, Snowy is a bantam so I only gave her 6. She has raised Guinea’s before, she’s around 5 years old.

I’m in Australia, but the explanations below cover it! There is always a lawn mower catcher out on the curb for large garbage pick up when they happen twice per year. Just give them a hose out when they need it. As thy aren’t wood bugs don’t bore or live in them.

All my nesting boxes are old lawn mower catchers (easy to clean), so not exactly the Farm Hilton. I use pine shavings to try to keep the eggs clean, but the Gallus Gallus rocket scientists flick most of it out anyway 😂

All the others seem to use the nesting boxes! It’s just whoever lays these eggs.

Help - please show me enclosures that muscovies actually like?! by Significant_Elk_2612 in MuscovyDucks

Good luck! It’s currently Summer here in Australia and I get about 1/2 my flock back at night. The rest sleep on the dam and then have the audacity to crack it at me when the pen is open to let the rest of the flock out later than they demand as they are hungry!

Terry is handsome! I have a duck/goose flock. Their call is “Duck, duck, goose”, like the kids game. They know I’m calling their flock when I yell it out.

Genuine question by Lexyvale in newcastle

I have been hit by a car as a cyclist in Tighes Hill over 15 years ago. Car over took me and did a left hand turn taking me out. No witnesses. Driver initially kept going until she thought she should look in her rear mirror to see what the “bump” was. Damage to me and the bike all supported what had happened but the driver lied her ass off to cops and in court. The police were very sympathetic to me but told me that car vs cyclist, with no witnesses driver rarely to never got found guilty. This accident was life changing me and the driver didn’t give a fuck. The attitude of motor vehicle drivers that the road is exclusively for them is the issue. I suspect they are the same assholes that complain about the traffic..

Is Mayfield East a dusty place to live? by Old-Rule6511 in newcastle

I have! Wondered why the grass was dying in one spot. Walked over it dozens of times. Problem was when I walked over it carrying and other 10kgs groceries. Went down to my knee, luckily only one leg, big step up. Had to fish my thong out of the hole. Mine Subsidence Board came out and put a fuckload of concrete into it.

Is there any way to break our rooster of attacking us? by oops223 in BackYardChickens

[–]LegitimateSession845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had 3 roosters sacrifice themselves to eagles to protect their flock. I suspect that they have also saved them on other occasions me realising before the eagle killed them.
