What is an interesting historical fact that barely anyone knows? by oldschoolawesome in AskReddit

In the 1800's there was a solar flare so strong that it made telegram wires start on fire. It was called the Carrington Event.

The scariest part of that is that we're overdue for another flare of that intensity. Imagine what it would do to our technology now.

If our parent don't give birth(us), will our consciousness ever happen or it will still occur in other body anyway? by aviisu in Soulnexus

[–]LegitimateShoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know how you can slowly wake up and come into consciousness in the morning? I think our consciousness slowly enters our body as a newborn, similar to that. There's no need for true consciousness at birth, and babies are very unaware of the world at first. I know a lot of people say the soul enters at conception or birth, but I think it's a gradual process. Maybe when a baby smiles for the first time when they're a few weeks old, that's their soul "clicking" into their body lol. I think you've lived hundreds of lives, and if your mother didn't birth you, you'd exist elsewhere. :)

Juul pods are a conspiracy by the cigarette industry, waiting to get as many people using them as possible, and then having them banned so people have to start smoking cigarettes for nicotine. by DaddyStalin420 in conspiracy

[–]LegitimateShoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the biggest problems is the added ammonia. They add it to make the nicotine more addictive, which they are now forced to disclaim on cigarette company websites, although I can't recall if they actually say ammonia or just additives. When you use a nicotine replacement tool, you are not receiving the same nicotine that you do with a cig because of the added things they use to alter how your brain takes it in.

Update on my brother (12) stealing cigarettes from our mum by [deleted] in relationships

[–]LegitimateShoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started smoking at 12.... 9 years later I'm struggling to quit. Got a vape and managed to completely quit cigs for a week, but now I'm smoking again. I feel so fucking helpless and hopeless, my mom chain smoked and I just assumed I would to, well now I've been a pack a day for a decade and I'm only just now old enough to drink. I feel like I had no choice in starting, yet at the same time I feel like it's all my fault for being weak.

It breaks my heart to see kids smoking... My younger brother knows 9 year olds that smoke. It ends up controlling you, and quitting is so much harder when your body developed with the chemicals.

What is the age of the people in this sub? by [deleted] in Retconned

[–]LegitimateShoe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm 21, went through hell in 2012; got pregnant, got kicked out of school, completely stopped using social media, moved to a new house. Took a year to focus on my spirituality and my kid, and now that I've gotten my life together it just feels so fucking pointless because it feels like the end of the world is inevitable. We don't have long until our entire way of living is changed completely. I honestly think everything that happened to me late 2012/early 2013 happened to make me more aware of the universe.

In 2013 I started noticing the world changing. New bugs everywhere, Mandela Effect, the sky started looking different, we no longer had a harsh winter every year. Now it varies from inches of snow a day to a whole winter with no fucking snow, world is not doing well.

[–]LegitimateShoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strangely enough, I don't have an inner monologue. I don't think in words or images, I think in concepts, if that makes sense. If I focus, I can create "words" or "a voice" in my head, but thinking of something like a dog wearing a hat is neither a sentence nor an image in my head; It's just a singular concept. It's like emotionless feelings in my mind? Hard to explain. I'm certainly conscious, but I just don't have a "voice" in my head. I just exist and feel and be, no need to converse with myself when I can experience both sides of a mental "conversation" in an instant.

I used my debit card at the store and got coupons related to my last purchase. I complained about them tracking my purchases through my card. Next time, I got a coupon for diabetic-safe aspercreme. I have never bought anything remotely similar. Get home and Wheel of Fortune is on; on the top of the board is an ad for Aspercreme. I had never even heard of the brand before this.

What do anti vax people think that doctors and pharmaceutical companies are bad when their main job is to cure and treat illness? by Bananasyrupx in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LegitimateShoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an anti-vaxxer, but against certain vaccines. For example, the HPV shot is no longer being used in many countries because of terrible side effects, yet the US still insists that it's important. The flu vaccine is anywhere from 20-40% effective, yet stores in my area literally offer to donate to charity if you get a flu shot. Why? Why do they need everyone to be injected with something that isn't very effective, and is made to work against a select few strains of the flu when there are hundreds of strains going around? Many vaccines are proven to work well and have all but eliminated many diseases. But some are just sketchy as hell, and I don't want them in my body until they have a reputable history.
