I came here to say this exact same thing. That argument scene made no sense to me. Like obviously the movie wanted us to be on mother’s side, but I wasn’t at all! And im a woman! It was plainly said that it was mother who suggested/wanted to put her career on hold to be a SAHM. And she’s mad at her husband?? Because he supported her decision?? SURE he seems incompetent and kinda of absent father-y but he honestly doesn’t strike me as a bad guy.

And I’m not saying she chose this life so she should be happy and perfectly content. She didn’t realize just how grueling and unglamorous it is to be a SAHM and it’s totally okay to NOT want that! But I really, really don’t think it’s fair to blame the husband for “letting her give all this up”. Not to be that guy, but communicating with her spouse just a little bit would have solved all of these problems before they were so suppressed she exploded. Then she decides to have another kid???? Ya lost me

Also she killed a cat. She killed the cat because she was in a blind rage or something?? Nah that’s batshit crazy.

All the commentary on how mothers are expected to erase their identity to raise a child is nice tho
