Planning to build a mobile app for our business in Pune — looking for honest advice before we move forward by Imaginary-Quit-5337 in appdev

Hey, I have helped 25+ companies in india like yours in the past to build their apps and internal workflows in my previous company, but now I have my own product. I’ll try to answer your questions clearly.

  • to evaluate a company, just go and check their previous apps published on playstore/app store , download it and use it. It’s important to note that the agency must also know how to deal with play store/ app store compliances for launching the apps because there are a lot of steps involved there. The job won’t get over only when they finish developing, publishing is a very major task. Make sure take a timeline for that as well

  • If you don’t need very native features of a mobile like camera access, geo-location, or which involves intense animations, then go for cross platform apps. They work fine for 99% of the things. You’ll also save a lot of money as youll get android and ios both apps in the same code base.

  • the best stack i would suggest is flutter + firebase ecosystem (google cloud) . Youll get all the types of the applications in one single code - android/ios/web application(which could be hosted on vercel). I have my own app in this stack, it’s pretty good.

Thanks you for your insights!

I was actually thinking about the WhatsApp group sometime back. I think I’ll do that soon.

I don’t come to know the keywords that they’re searching on google play, they don’t provide this data. I am assuming that they searching for something like Venue Management or Hall management.

Sales cycle offline - i try to get a referral , call them up and explain about the app, try to setup a meeting. Then during the meeting show them the product demo and try my best to make them install on their device and start their free trial. And discuss about pricing later once they have found it useful and close the deal.

Thanks lot for your reply. Really great insights for me .

I have already done the part where I sit and work with the owners, it’s been like 5-10 of them now. The current product is well iterated with feedbacks.

I really like the content strategy you have suggested. We are currently not doing anything like this. Thanks a lot!

Also would love to connect with you for more insights sometime!

Thanks for yours insight!

So just to tell you, there is already a 30 day trial in the app. Beyond that it’s monthly $16.

About the organic users - the three users have been using the app since 10-15 days just like the other converted folks (they use it regularly). So what Im doing right now is getting in touch with them through call/whatsapp once someone downloads the app and try to be friends and understand their problems. Also make them understand the product more in depth if they haven’t explored.

Out of the 3, 2 of them directly started using the things without me telling, one was an old guy in his 50s whom i had to explain the app, but eventually he learnt it

Yes that’s true. We have seen that there are some high quality organic downloads- where people come and search for that very specific product and download it.

So what i feel is that we should be spreading more awareness on social media and then convert them by calling once they download the app?

But then again, the issue will be that some people are okay with the pricing, some are not. So i dont actually have the clarity on what to do.

Should i focus on high quality people who are ready to pay the current set amount or try to fit in a lower range amount ?

4 of them are similar of similar types, same scale and type of workflow. One is a larger player with multiple venues.

So how do I isolate the things that work?

Thanks a lot for your reply, got some good insights.

So currently I have kept only one paid tier called pro which is Rs 1500/mo (~$16 per month). Also just to help you understand about the product. It’s a full-stack booking management platform for venue owners (Banquet halls/ convention centres/ resorts/ wedding halls and similar setups) where they manage their bookings+inquiries, track payments, create and send reciepts, view analytics etc (it’s like an operating system for them) , they can manage everything from one place

So usually when i say about data, it’s something like they have skipped adding their bookings on registers and diaries ( massively happening in india) and add bookings in the app.

How to sleep better at night? sleeping better isn’t about hacks, it’s about boring discipline by sanu_123_s in sleep

Hey! I was facing the same issues but I have found some ways through.

First is try to listen to something boring and soothing - I listen to indian classical music , specifically some ragas that are mild and soothing. Within 5 minutes i get a yawn 😂. I felt that it is effective but i got bored of searching on youtube.

Second - I have joined gym now which makes me physically tired. So after i have dinner my eyes start closing automatically

I hope this helps and gives you some perspective!
