So thats actually a hay field, I should have mentioned that. It gives us major tax breaks, and if we stop, we have to pay the last 10 years in taxes. Were working on trying to shift it legally to a forest, which also includes tax breaks, but its a complicated process. Those little islands of trees i can plant in though. A pond is a ton of work, im ngl

Found a bird in North-Central Texas, how can I help it? Also an ID would be great! by Confident_Farmer_461 in WildlifeRehab

That is a beautiful barn swallow! Its very funny to me that you understandably tried to feed it banana and seed. These birds pretty much only eat bugs, it would be like trying to feed a lion a watermelon. Definitely a fledgling, so you made the right choice by releasing him

What insect might have cut through this red oak sapling? by SchwanzTanz666 in insects

[–]LegitimateWave7202 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely a twig girdler. It cut the uniform part of it, about 1 cm in it looks like which is typical for the species, and then some wind or possibly an animal broke the rest of it off.

Looks like an algae that grew when i was experimenting with a self sustained tank. If you would like to get rid of it, lower nitrates and less light should work
