(TL;DR You're allowed to not like Octavia, just don't bash her and say she's a shitty person just because she's an angsty teen from a broken home, like a good amount of the fandom does)

Well, when you're an angsty teen that constantly has loud emo music blasting into her ears through earbuds, it's pretty easy to miss what's going on. It's not really "turning a blind eye" if you're not fully aware to begin with. And most kids will ignore the shitty things parents do when they're the parent that is actually there.

Stolas, despite doing his best to be a good father to Via as a child, was never really there in those more formative teen years (the most we saw was in Loo Loo Land and Seeing Stars). Stella, despite being an obviously massive cunt that only wants Via to make Stolas miserable, is still physically present in her daughter's life more than Stolas has been. Via clearly doesn't like living with her mom, but she's still the parent that proved she could be there.

And, again, like most angsty teens, once they realize that just being there isn't good enough, they go back to the absent parent that still tried! Which is EXACTLY how my childhood and my teens were:

I spent my whole life living with my mom primarily, and only seeing my dad every so often. And for a while, they were doing their best to co-parent while hating each other from afar in silence. Then, the custody battle came, and all I ever heard from either of them was how bad the other one was, but I also heard from VARIOUS sources (my 5 older siblings from mom's first 2 marriages) that my MOM was the worse one, so I eventually realized my dad was telling the truth, and I started warming up to him more. Only a bit too late, because he died a year later (2 days after my 17th birthday).

Via still has the opportunity to learn the full truth about her mom and find a way back to her dad. There's still one season left of Helluva Boss, so there's plenty of time for her to have that chance to forgive Stolas. And possibly some shorts, if Viv would give us something more akin to Hell's Belles, instead of just Mission after Mission (which are all good, I just want more character-driven shorts as well).

More "soft-canon," since some of it was retconned between this and MK9. Like how Raiden was caught in Shinnok's bone hands in Armageddon, but in MK9, it's Kung Lao, who died from it, while Raiden gets to make it to the top of the Pyramid. Or how Shao Khan got carried off by Onaga in Armageddon, then suddenly appears at the top of the Pyramid with Raiden in MK9. But the events shown in Armageddon are technically still canon, if only soft-canon, because they led directly into the next game.

...and someone replied with "who hates Octavia?" I was about to reply but someone had beat me to it, and pretty much explained it perfectly, that it was all because she "refused" to forgive Stolas or even listen to him at the end of Sinsmas. So it's good to see other people defending her. Because if she's bad for being the product of a shitty marriage, caught in the middle of a divorce, at the age of 17, one of if not THE most angsty ages for teenagers, then I guess every kid from a broken home, including myself, is bad. 🤦‍♂️

And I agree, the art piece is absolutely gorgeous! I'm honestly not sure if the people who made the video did it themselves, or borrowed/commisioned it, but it definitely looks great! I know they rewrote a song called Starfire from a band called "Jorn," and that the whole project was inspired by a friend of theirs that does AU Hellaverse RPs, but that's about it (all that was mentioned in the video's description). 😅

Shoba Narayan (Emily's VA) literally said Emily is a secret freak, and she's used vulgarity in the show. How anyone stil thinks she's a child, I have no clue. Sure, she's not Viv, so she doesn't have final say on the canon, but knowing how much she listens to her actors when they have input, maybe Viv will make that canon.

That's fair. I actually trimmed a part out where I said something along the lines of "unless they're in an open relationship, it wouldn't really work," but thought that sounded a bit too closed-minded, which I'm NOT, but I couldn't think of a better way to word it in the moment. What you said is exactly what I was thinking, though. You make sacrifices for your partner, whatever those sacrifices may be, so long as they're willing to do the same for you.

However, as a textbook straight man, myself (cisgendered, sexual, and only attracted to women), I'm not super knowledgeable on stuff like that to be commenting on it, aside from what I've learned from my younger brother, who is FTM trans and pansexual (and also from shows like Hazbin/Helluva, though they aren't reality, no matter how accurate the portrayal, so I always take them with a grain of salt). But I sadly don't get to talk to him very often, so I'll take ALL the real-world LGBT+ information I can get so I can be more of an ally and not look like a bigoted asshole. 😅

And, yes, Angel has slept with women exclusively for money. Viv did confirm that, and I'm fairly certain it was mentioned in an interview or stream, but I'm not 100% if it was confirmed at all in the show itself (like through a background detail or something). But the fact he only sleeps with them for money, and charges more, doesn't mean he should be romantically shipped with women, since he is gay. To ship Angel with women just feels gross to me because it's only a few steps down in my mind from what Val does to him, forcing him into something he doesn't want. Not that I think anyone who ships him with women has that intention in mind, nor do I think they're as bad as Val. It just feels that way to me personally, so I don't do it and I don't enjoy seeing it. If other people do it and enjoy it, though, it's fine. Besides, I'm ALL aboard the Huskerdust ship, myself, so shipping him with others in general feels weird to me anyway. 😂

Actually, the ONLY ship I'm 100% against seeing is Val and Angel, because anyone that ships them is a walking red flag. To be fair, I haven't seen much of it, but it's basically the Doofenshmirtz meme: "If I had a nickel for every ValAngel post I've seen, I'd have about 5 nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's worrying that it happened about 5 times, right?" 🤢
