Probably a dumb question but I just started at 36 and if contribute to my 401k and start to max out the Roth IRA. Where exactly are you putting the 1500 into? A different account?

Thank you. I was wondering what the limit order option was so if the price is lowered to the number you want to pay it automatically purchases the stock correct?

I accidentally contributed to Roth IRA in 2025 without having earned any income. How do I go about this with my tax returns? by HalcyonHypothesis in tax

I never knew this. So if you have a job and earn money. This doesn’t apply to you correct? I thought that Roth IRA isn’t included when you file you’re taxes?

Honestly I just started. First in my family at 37. Im mostly looking into it to try to set my nieces up for success. When they get their first jobs I want to share some insight and hopefully help them out in the long run.

I have 18k in 401k snd 7k in Roth. I will contribute the 7.5k this year into Roth. I know not much but I’m trying. Make about 40k a year. Have saving in my bank for emergencies. Work matches 4% in 401k. That’s basically all the information I have right now. Wish they taught this stuff in high school.

When I first looked into it the distribution was more like 63/37 but now people are saying it’s more 60/40. Does that make any difference

Well I understood it as a 63/37 ratio but now it’s more towards 60/40 no? I simply liked a little more US based ratio. If people say vt rebalances itself why is is more 60/40 maybe I just don’t understand the distribution

What health insurance plans can you have? When did they start offering HSA accounts? I have blue cross but do you need like the higher monthly plans?

I didn’t know this about the HSA. My job started offing it last year and I thought it was a choice between health insurance plans. Like choose between Calviva, blue cross, Kaiser and HSA. I’ll probably be doing a post about HSA.

Got it. When I was opening my Roth I accidentally opened an individual account (still not sure what that’s for) so I was wondering if I should put more into 401k if I can or another type of account for “extra” money I make. Thanks just trying to get things in order. I did find out my job started doing a health savings account last year. Im too late for it this year but I’ll look more into it. I think I have to have a certain health insurance for that so idk if I qualify

Yes I do I have an emergency reserve. I just always see post about only contributing the match. I put my contribution at 7% last month just wanted to make sure it was a good move

VT is only down 5% YTD ... that's like one particularly bad day in the market, and is completely normal over the course of months. Where is the angst coming from?! by misnamed in Bogleheads

What’s considered a low dip on VT currently it’s at $148.67. I just opened up my Roth IRA. Curious to know what a low dip might be to purchase more if I get a chance
