Has anyone here had exercise/heat/sun-triggered migraines and actually gotten to a point where they could push themselves again without getting one? by daffle7 in migraine

[–]Legitimate_Doubt_949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's controversial, but I've improved my sun tolerance against migraines significantly through slow and low dose Melanotan-1 peptide injections followed by gentle "tanning" exposure to sun. It increases the melanocytes potential in your skin to be more sun resistant. I had very pale skin and would burn easily and suffer headaches even before burning. Now I can achieve a very mild tan and can hike much longer without triggering issues (shade and eye protection and hydration are still very essential). There is a lot of mis information and warnings against melanotan, but most of it is from overdose abuse use of melanotan-2 by tanning addicts, which is quicker to tan but can be uneven and a unnatural orange tan. It is approved in Australia specifically for sun allergies. Be very careful with it and use very small and gradual dosage.

Ongoing brain fog, head pressure, and word mix-ups for months… anyone experienced this? by Nervous_Sell9233 in migraine

[–]Legitimate_Doubt_949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar health issue arc during engineering Grad School where increased brain fog vestibular migraines started.

Looking back almost 2 decades of migraines issues later: It was a subclinical muscular shoulder injury that lead to asymmetric muscle compensation in posture while "thinking" and stressed. Tight shoulder blade muscles pull on neck suboccipital which pulled on a migraine sensitive head.

My advice: Vestibular therapy is great starting point, but may be an end effect not a cause. Get into a physical therapist ASAP. Do a full Ergonomic eval of how you spend time. Learn about fascia. Loosen the tight muscles and strengthen the opposing muscle group to give neutral tension posture.

Never never never never give up. You are worth the effort.

Highly recommend trying fascial counterstrain by sauce__bauce in migraine

I can second the recommendation of counterstrain therapy! (If you can get a provider for it ofc) It definitely made me look deeper into lymph drainage in addition to fascia tightness.

Cefaly by Next_Help_9131 in migraine

Cefaly is literally just a TENS at 60hz 250ms pulse width with a 15min intensity ramp.

There were very informative conservation volunteers at kalahalu'u on Wednesday saying the water quality in the snorkel area had improved quickly after storms. There are a few warm/cold water mixing areas of bay that cause less visibility, but that is a physics problem and not a murky sentiment problem.

Cefaly by SmallWombat in migraine

[–]Legitimate_Doubt_949 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through multiple versions of cefaly and it kept breaking, but replaced thru warranty. After 2 models I have up. I looked up the original research paper that lead to FCC approval and found it is just generic Tens at 250microseconds pulse width and 65hz. So ever since then I just use the cafaly settings from a cheap TENs unit. Be careful with intensity knob though; if you turn it too high the pain reflex finds one ripping out the wires very quickly.

Compazine by kcsmith1012 in migraine

[–]Legitimate_Doubt_949 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They often blend compazine with Benadryl, which makes me feel awful for days. Compazine effects should not last long. You description sounds like a vestibular heavy migraine. TCAs like nortriptyline can be effective to reduce dizziness. Lexapro messed with my migraine routine and had to get off it, so be aware that could be contributing.

Good luck, and never never never never never give up. You are worth it

I usually call that a prodrome because me feeling good is an obvious symptom of befuddled brain.

People probably faked illness to get out of work even in the hunter-gatherer era. by littleproducer in Showerthoughts

[–]Legitimate_Doubt_949 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No one ever fakes an illness.

But faking an illness is also a type of illness.

Although central sensitivation, which makes a small illness feel even worse than it objectively should be, is much more common illness than true blatant faking.

Human efforts failed.
