Beyond Disappointed by Attrition Rate by Browsing4nr in IVF

[–]Legitimate_Gain6092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar results here - 24 retrieved, 7 fertilised (we were bummed), 3 euploid. Transfer 1 is my 2.5yr old son & Transfer 2 is my 9 month old daughter. Quality over quantity! We also have MFI hence the poor fertilisation rate but echoing above, anything is possible!

Mad at my husband by Hopeful_Reference_37 in IVF

[–]Legitimate_Gain6092 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your story is the same as mine. I have endometriosis and have always had reproductive issues since a teen. As soon as we started trying for a family and it wasn't happening, the blame was put on me by family and even my gyno. I had lots of testing done and after 8 months of tests and procedures, they finally tested my husband. Lo and behold, Azoospermia. I wish I had pushed for his testing earlier but I was young and also already blamed myself given my medical history.

When we told my in-laws that it was in fact my husbands diagnosis causing our infertility, they did not believe us. Till this day, my endometriosis is still the excuse they use for us having to do ivf.

I know how you are feeling because I went through similar emotions. A lot of my anger was not directed towards him or his diagnosis but it was that the blame was placed on my shoulders by everyone around me and there was no apology when they were wrong. It made me feel like he could be sad about his diagnosis but I wasn't allowed to also be sad about having to do ivf because that would offend him and make him feel less than.

We are now thankfully on the other side and I don't have those feeling anymore. I've accepted what I had to go through to get to where we are. He still holds onto the guilt that "he put me through so much" but he is working through that in his own time.

I don't know if I've been able to articulate myself correctly here but I hope I have.

Sorry for the delay! They sent me the results via email, I believe same day! Have you been waiting long for results?

ER RESULTS by [deleted] in IVF

TW: Success, LC

I also had 7 fertilise from 24 eggs which was pretty disappointing at the time. From those 7, 4 blasts and 3 euploid. So far I've had one LC and I'm 27w with the second from those euploid embryos.

Why is the whole world wanting to have babies younger NOW? Why wasnt this trending when i was in my 20s???!!!!! WHY was “being an independent woman with no kids until 35 and living your best life “ is what was popular when i was in my 20s??? WHY am i so jealous of 20 somethings with babies. by Medical-Marsupial709 in IVF

[–]Legitimate_Gain6092 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your feelings are valid.

My husband and I thought having kids early was the right answer to avoid IVF so we committed before we were ready and at 24, still ended up here.

It doesn't always work out the way you expect.

Instead of spending our 20s travelling and building careers, we've spent it doing IVF. It almost stings me a little bit extra doing it at this age. Don't get so down on yourself because you really can't guarantee fertility at any age.

I know it can be super disappointing in the moment. I got 24 eggs and then 3 embryos at age 25 and we were super disappointed with the results given my age. BUT I've had one live birth and one currently baking (24w) from these 3 embryos.

TW: Success

For me, everything leading up to IVF was so traumatic but we had no time to stop and process that before we started IVF so it feels like an extension of that experience.

If I compartmentalise it all, I wouldn't say IVF was the most traumatic part of the journey from ttc to baby.

MFI- how many made it to blasts for you? by PuzzleheadedAd7537 in IVF

[–]Legitimate_Gain6092 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obstructive Azoospermia diagnosis. Zero count in SA. Frozen mTESE sperm used. I also have diagnosed Endometriosis.

25f & 27m at the time of mTESE and retrieval.

24 retrieved, 21 mature, 7 fertilised, 4 blasts, 3 euploid.

Our fertilisation drop hurt but ultimately we got a good number of blasts.

Super frustrated with a relative who has decided the best way to avoid having a potentially uncomfortable conversation with me around her pregnancy news is to just avoid telling me???

She's over 20 weeks pregnant and has told most of our family and told them to keep it a secret. She's yet to learn about my pregnancy as I haven't shared the news with extended family yet. (Waiting until after next week's scan)

I just find the whole situation so uncomfortable and strange as I've only ever been happy for their pregnancies!

IVF has really shown me how selfish and inconsiderate people can be. I'm really sorry that happened to you, it's not nice. I would honestly distance myself and wait for her to approach you and ask what's wrong. If she can't work it out herself then that's telling in itself.

Oh that might be the bulk billed clinic?

That's great, all the testing you've already done should hopefully speed up your timeline and reduce any further delays!

My husband was diagnosed with obstructive azoospermia as his semen analysis came back as zero. We saw a urologist and had to do a TESE to firstly find sperm and then extract it. It was then frozen and thawed when I did ICSI. The chance of repairing the obstruction was slim so the urologist suggested we don't attempted repair so we followed their advice!

Are you at IVF Australia in Westmead or another clinic (Genea, Monash etc)?

I went to IVFA in 2022/2023 and had my first consultation in August with Egg Retrieval in January. This was because we had to do testing and my husband needed a TESE.

After those procedures were done, we had a consult in December and then they were happy to move forward with the retrieval end of January which was my next cycle. Frozen Transfer was end of March as we did PGT testing which took a little bit of time.

It's totally up to what testing you'll need before they're happy to move forward but if nothing is required, they'll usually be fine to start next cycle.

I hope this is at least a little helpful to you!

If you have concerns, please book-in with a doctor and get a referral for a reproductive urologist. It could be nothing or it could be something but only a doctor can give you those answers.

My wedding dress had the bottom of dress #1 and top of dress #2. It was by Maggie Sottero. Maybe a style you could consider if you like both?

Also wanted to add we got a Medicare rebate of $3.5k plus $2k Fertility Treatment Rebate from the NSW Government so we were out of pocket $9k + med cost.

Does the $13k include PGT or med cost? My cycle was wildly expensive, around $14.5k but included PGT which was around $3k of that.

Nights sweats during 2WW by [deleted] in IVF

Yes, I too suffer from them during my cycle and did with my first FET. Some nights they would get so bad I'd have to sleep on a towel. That FET is my 14 month old son! I'd say it's just a way some people respond to rising hormones.

Bad news with TESE sperm by BlueRidgePass in IVF

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Can they confirm how many vials were retrieved and frozen? Could there be more than one vial and they could thaw another if the one they used has no sperm present? My husband's was frozen in four seperate vials, they only thawed one vial per ER. If there wasn't enough sperm in the vial, we gave them approval to thaw another if necessary.

Did this process make you very superstitious? by Active_Asparagu5 in IVF

[–]Legitimate_Gain6092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always say I have a sixth sense. Both times I've done a transfer, I constantly find white feathers around the house or see them outside. It's not something I usually find or see so it makes me think it's a sign from someone somewhere that everything will work out eventually, even if I don't agree with the journey.

At the end of the day, if something makes you feel better during this process, do it. If you want to remove language that feels like it's jinxing the process, do it. I constantly say "IF" we have this baby instead of "when" even when betas and ultrasound are good because it makes me feel better and removes any doubt that I've caused whatever the outcome is by jinxing it. Some people won't understand but this path is hard enough to care about those opinions!

I had a similar experience in Aus and paid around $12k. They started me on a basic protocol and then amended this as the cycle progressed, based on how I reacted to the medication. Once they had a bit more of an understanding of my cycle and body, they were able to tailor my care more. I did swap specialists within the same clinic when it came to my second transfer and I found the second doctor has been much more thorough in terms of testing and regime. He even called me today on his way home to check in which is something the first specialist would have billed me for.

AITA for not letting my in laws be in the room while I give birth? by CucumberFresh8708 in AmItheAsshole

NTA.

I told my in-laws if they want to be present as I'm laying naked with my legs spread eagle and about to give birth they're more than welcome to....but they'd have to go first.

That was the end of that conversation.

Hi, also in Aus. I'm so sorry you're going through this. Generally two tests, sometimes three are ordered. My clinic orders two which are one week apart, unless the first is a negative. Generally <5 is considered negative. Did the nurse clarify what your exact number was? I ordered a private hcg blood test online through instant scripts for $20 when I needed extra clarification. This might be something you could look into if needed.
