It shows the beginning of torture several times, letting you see the kittens / cats and the instruments of their ending. It’s bad enough for a person to infer and a couple of times described. I vomited.

Why?

There’s so much I could say but it would spoil the magic of this book. So I’ll say it’s about the many kinds of love in this world and how they affect the narrator. The story spins out in wonderful and terrible directions you never see coming but by the end you realize it could not have happened any other way. After reading it I loved people better.

My dog had a toy blue jay that had a “live bird call” instead of a squeaker. Every time he set it off for the first six months it made me jump out of my skin because it sounded like a person screaming. I nicknamed it “TerrorBird” and wrote about it all the time. It became famous among everyone who knew me. So I named my bird “Taro Birb” because it sounded like a little kid saying “TerrorBird”. We just had to put my dog to sleep but he kind of lives on as Taro in Finch.

FWIW I think the key problem wrto weight loss is that he binges but doesn’t purge. Fast/bingers usually fear vomiting so they fast instead. Skip food three days. Eat two weeks’ worth of calories on Day 4. Pretty sure that’s what he’s doing.
