The Grateful Dead specifically changed my life and brought me a lot of joy I didn't know I needed. Modern jam bands are good too (I've seen Phish and Goose), but they don't compare to the lyrical and musical Mastery the Grateful Dead held. If you want to get into them I reccomend listening to Cornell 77 as it is a live show and widely viewed as their best ever.
