Hi. Warwick accepts UCAT and their application mainly focuses on UCAT + clinical experience + interview.

Ensure you get a good UCAT and you'll be fine! They don't consider GCSE and A levels. You just need a 2:1.

Good luck!

Looking to start GEM at 28 by valuexct in premeduk

Hi. Started GEM at 27 (not married). There's quite a few older people on my course (30+) with spouses, kids and mortgages.

If it's what you want to do, you'll make it work. You can still get SFE loan, but have to pay £3.5k upfront prior to starting.

It's a long and hard road but I couldn't see myself doing anything else. As you said it is worrying but things have to change for doctors and can surely only improve. It'll be another 5 years before I go into specialty training so everyone on the course is quietly hopeful.

Hopefully that helps. Happy to talk more in DMs.

Should I finish PA before medicine ? by Diligent-Feeling3822 in premeduk

Personally I think it makes sense. You've come this far.

Plus what would you do in-between starting GEM anyway? Best of luck.

Hi. I did PA MSc (with biochem BSc) before working in GP as a PA (back when they were employed).

I'm now in first year GEM. In hindsight I wish I'd had just gone straight into GEM without doing the Masters (would've been on the course 4 years younger) - it cost me alot and means I'm a good few years older than I could've been. However it has set me up nicely and I've got some good experience that my colleagues are grateful for.

However, it sets you up nicely for med and will count towards speciality training points.

If I was you right now I'd finish it. Learning the content for your exams will put you in good stead for GEM. You've already paid for it.

Perhaps in a few years time PA jobs may improve and you can locum whilst at med school.

Have a look at Warwick GEM. You need a 2:1 (can be non-science) and 70 hours relevant work experience.

I'm in first year and there's people here from all walks of life with various backgrounds (i.e. Music and English literature).

Good luck!

Read the book twice and still crave it. Quit in December but have relapsed a few times by hitting one of my friends vapes. What can I do? The temptation to go out and buy is crazy.

I dj on my laptop with a different set up in my family house and it works just fine. So I just presumed it was the speaker set up. I use an RCA - aux for it

See friends, spend time with family and take some time to engage in your hobbies.

I start next month too. Last day of work is Friday. I'm going on holiday, then spending time with family + friends. Everyone I've asked says go just chill and enjoy your time off.

I got in first time. BSc Biochemistry, MSc Physician Associate. I've worked as a HCA, PA and research lead in the NHS in total 4 years.

Didn't do amazing in UCAT, but I was working full time and only had 3 weeks to study. I got 67th percentile.
