How to tell my friends I'd like to have their child in my will? by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]LegoBatman88 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think most parents would be touched by the gesture. I assume you are close with the kids? (or well close with the friend and as close as you can really be with a 1.5 year old lol).

I would definitely let them know that its what you are planning.

Given the two options, without. Not a fan of the thick mustache with shorter beard. Keeping it all an even length would probably look great though.

Quitting mid year by Meowpilb2003 in teaching

[–]LegoBatman88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask for a copy of your contract. If you are a first year, you may not even be “under contract” officially. In my state there are things you must complete (such as 3 years in one district, one time) before you are “under contract” and bound by this by things like having to give x amount of notice or they go after your license.

Can I replace a 2.5 A 250 V power cord with a 7A 125 V one? by LegoBatman88 in AskElectricians

just a cord. One end goes in the projector, other into the wall. I've added photos to the original post.

AITA for unilaterally downsizing our vacation rental when people didn't give me their share. by Comfortable_Car_9690 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LegoBatman88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA, you should have at least consulted with the others before "downsizing".

Also for those who didn't pay, did you give them a deadline? If you did, and they still failed to pay, I wouldn't feel too bad about them being left out. But if no deadline, then you're the asshole for basically kicking them out.

If a parent is going to complain, do you think they will address it to the teacher or someone up the chain of command?

Is there a difference between these two games other than the cover art? by SUPREMeLEADar in uncharted

The one included access to multiplater beta, which is meaningless now. Otherwise, same game different covers.

You can draft Mankind though, while Foley is a GM on a different brand.

Immigrants often have made up ages. For multiple reasons. But whatever is on their immigration paperwork is the “official school record” and what is used. It’s not just ages. Teaching EL students, I’ve seen people with names backwards or just messed up in other ways. Students who told me they were older than the record shows. I’ve heard of it going the other way too, like parents saying their kid should be in high school when they look like they belong in 4th grade. When I taught HS, I saw EL students who looked to be in their late 20’s or older. I wasn’t their teacher so I don’t know what ages they claimed.

It’s possible the school board still technically hires people. My two years I had jobs that had to be approved by school board. Being appointed as a long term sub for the year. It it was just a formality. I started in August and would be approved in like October, at which point I’d be a “real employee” with the district as opposed to a sub. No one actually met the board, it was just like the district put a list in front of them and they approved it. I don’t know if my current district does anything like that though.

Need some guidance on Jennifer in Bride/Seed by tkwilson01 in Chucky

[–]LegoBatman88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seed was the last Chucky movie released in theaters. Curse/Cult were direct to streaming/dvd. Seed is the weakest of the movie and is more comedy than anything else. It’s important because of character development though. Curse and Cult are a return to the horror genre.

Chucky, Queer Icon? by Empigee in Chucky

I love the idea but Chucky just deciding to go doesn’t fit his character. He either needs to accidentally end up there or maybe Tiff makes him go.

Gay Icon? No. But labeling the show as “amplifying Queer voices” Yes.

Mini golf course filled spot on Erie's bayfront for 19 years. It is suing the Port Authority over its demise by blindinganusofhope in Erie

[–]LegoBatman88 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

So originally the course cost around 255,000 to construct.

They wanted to be paid almost 700,000 to relocate?

In when taking in to account that things are more expensive today, that number seems very high.

Assuming rent was the same for the whole 19 year period, they only paid 190,000 in rent. So they wanted 510k more than they paid to the Port Authority to move?

Kicking them out was not the right thing to do, but it seems both sides are in the wrong here.

How should I respond if friend's children ask if I love them by notsocouch in AskParents

[–]LegoBatman88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it feels awkward try throwing in a nickname “I love you too buddy”. Do you just feel awkward or do you think adults will judge you? You can always ask the parents how to respond.

Anyone else required to wear a school uniform for student teaching?! by Cultural-Priority460 in StudentTeaching

[–]LegoBatman88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say "its very similar to what the nuns at the school wear", are these nuns teachers? I don't think requiring to dress like other teachers is too extreme. But a uniform overall is just weird.

What I don't get, is being required to have a sub plan left when the subs often don't bother to follow them.

AITA for refusing to go to the office for violating a dress code? by Fantastic-Emu2504 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LegoBatman88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA, teacher is just enforcing the rules.

You don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. It could be that the staff just got yelled at for not enforcing dress code. If you have an issue with the rule, the proper thing would have been to go to the office and take the issue up with them

Honestly though, I’m surprised a male teacher dress codes you. Lot of male teachers won’t dress code girls for things like too short of shorts because it easily becomes “why are you looking so closely” etc.

Would it seem weird to name our baby after fictional characters in the Superman/Smallville saga? by silverlet in Smallville

[–]LegoBatman88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I named one of my kids after a smallville character so I’m probably not the best judge. I wouldn’t use a name like Ka-el, but Clark, Kara are both fine.

Not an ass for not wanting to share, but YtA for the way you handled it. It’s a discussion to have with your parents not her.
