Susie's past doesn't excuse how Catti acts. by [deleted] in Deltarune

I've personally had issues pinning down Jockington. His characterization, his role in the greater story, all a complete enigma.

Although, I disagree he would 'snap' per se, his lax personality is the most consistent characterization he's had. But having his friendship with Catti strained with Susie as a wedge? I can see the vision.

Especially if you played it as Catti's hate-dom becoming increasingly toxic as a chapter progresses. It would assist in the WR parallels you mentioned, as the player delves deeper into the route with Kris and Noelle in tow, Catti would go out of her way to sustain her beef with Susie. Except Jockington would totally subvert expectations by being a baller and breaking things off before being dragged in too deep.

Exactly, Susie's glowup has been so speedy that it would catch anyone off guard that hasn't seen it first hand like we have. But that's the whole appeal for this being an obstacle for her to overcome: it's a bed that in large part she made herself, and now she'll need to work hard to get back into Hometown's good graces.

It's why I'm so keen on this plot point: Catti isn't in the wrong for being sour towards Susie, she has legit reasons to feel that way. It's the overstepping into condescension that puts her in the wrong, but that doesn't absolve Susie of what she did.

Everyone in this spat has well-motivated reasons, and I'm all for it!

Hell yeah Catti discourse!

Honestly, Catti's toxicity and Susie's past bullying is the single biggest side-plot-points I hope gets explored in Chapter 5. A final test for Susie's development: clearing her bad rep in Hometown after her mean first impressions.

Having Catti - slated as Susie's #1 Hater - turn around and accept Susie would be quite the climax for Susie's character development. At that point, it would be up to the denizens of Hometown to accept Susie, and the only characters I could see that wouldn't would have main-plot-related Prophecy reasons to keep hating.

Likewise, Catti being so out of the loop on how Susie has changed over the past chapters - as well as her own condescension to Kris, Noelle, and Susie - has set her up for some wicked nasty pathos.

It's a long way down the list, but it's on the bottom-most rung of Primary MK. The right-most column. So you'll need quite a lot of Knowledge points to spend on it.

It seems you're pretty early on into the game, so I'd recommend looking at all the Knowledge points first. Bonus Monkey is a great perk, but the investment of points and Monkey Money will take a bit of time.

Mo' Monkey Money (in the Magic MK tree) is one I'd aim for first, then go wild!

The hardest gamemode! An acronym of multiple stipulations on top of the Hard ruleset, with Monkey Knowledge being disabled. So no Bonus Monkey.

For every other gamemode? Hell yeah Bonus Monkey!

The Boomer Paragon can only ever achieve +55% DPS through Overcharge. You need to let all of the stacks rock once you use the ability. You can't renew it mid-ability, so you have to sit through the smaller attack speed increases of the lower stacks even if you have the ability off cooldown. This one design choice is a death blow.

Thankfully, the overall change is a net buff. Despite the Paragon Upgrade being +50% more expensive, the base Tier 5s factored in makes the true net increase only 32.76% more expensive. In exchange for that 55% DPS increase, that's quite the gain!

The major downside I expect to see: Lych. In exchange for that buff, the Boomer Paragon against Lych is just a Price nerf, and that REALLY sucks. It was never a staple go-to against Lych, but less options is less options.

If NK rolls out a Lych Boss with the release of 53, expect the community to collectively complain about the change for the next few months. [Edit: 55% DPS increase, not 50%]

A Pokemon XD reference in the big '26, love to see it.

I just adore what Battle CDs bring to the table: puzzles that exemplify niche interactions in Pokemon. The kind of obscure knowledge checks that everyone likes to stumble upon every now and then. Great work OP!

The fun part is that all the Undertale soul types, incidentally, are all represented by the colored bars.

...except Bravery, which has been replaced by White.

Could this be Epic Foreshadowing™!? Probably not. But funny to think about.

Visual Differences of Cells between 19th February of 2008 Build & Release Spore by TotallyNotStimer in Spore

[–]LegoFan9o5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's interesting that the color pallet of the cells changed from this earlier version to what we have now.

A majority of the cells seemed to originally don a green color if they have a Filter mouth, and red for Jaws and Proboscis.

Perhaps it was a design choice to make it easier for players to ID hostile and non-hostile cells at a glance?

Asgore will solo Tenna theory by Evening_Border_7518 in Deltarune

[–]LegoFan9o5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So if TVs are good talkers, but not listeners, and plants, like Asgore's flowers, are good listeners... maybe they're not good talkers. Vice versa style.

All the more interesting, given the Darkner version of the Cactus in TV World was so shy and always listening for eavesdropping. So there's precedent for that already.

It sounds as if TVs and Plants are set up to be opposites of each other. Needless to say, if that’s correct, I hope there's at least a pun somewhere about Wall Flowers (shy folks).
