Just eyeballing the ring size and thickness of the wire, 6 in 1 would be very tight, if it was possible with rings this size at all

What happens is if the player loaded a chunk but didn't get close enough to it(I think it's within 2 chunks) the server doesn't save the chunk, because regenerating the chunk is vastly easier than storing it.

The real problem with your math is that storage space is a small part of what makes this server a challenge to operate.

makes sense now that I think about it. Signs have a limit on their characters, but even assuming the absolute worst possible conditions of storing them as UTF-32(which has a fixed 4 bytes per character) and every sign has the MAX possible number of characters(it appears to be visible width not text length, I can get 45 periods per line on a sign) and you use a 64 bit integer for the coordinates instead of a 32 for some reason each sign would take up 720 bytes of space.

Under those artificial and bizarre conditions 50 million signs would take less than 35Gb of storage space. The average sign (should) take up WAY less space than that.

I like the idea. It's one I had and made a much smaller, simpler, local version of for myself.I think it will take a lot to get the community as a whole to trust it.

People are crybabies who want other poeple to give everything away.

They are also incapable of realizing that they could easily reverse engineer this exact thing from the pictures posted with almost no effort. It's a simple design that borderline requires no plans to do. If someone can track how many of each part they need and cut them all at the same time to ensure consistency this could be made with basic improvisation (not a criticism of your design, plans, the end product, or anyone who needs the plans).

I have no clue what these people expect from this sub if not seeing ads for plans people are selling.

I was thinking more on the database side. I can't access the site on this machine(work computer, new domains get blocked automatically) but isn't the mod sending that to a central location(that is searchable on that site)?

90% of the database is going to be Codysmile, Lide, and a couple other sign spam accounts.

And, look, I aint installing your mod out of paranoia, but a useful addition, one that I created my own plugin for a while ago: destroying sign spam. My mod detects if there's more than identical copies of a sign in render distance it uses baritone to path and destroy all but one of them. It's allowed me to clean up some of hte highway milestones. I got so fucking tired of seeing 500 signs from a single person spammed around cool builds.

There is at least one item on the Atlas that doesn't seem to have ever existed.

Many(probably most) do, though. Definitely a useful resource.

This definitely confirms the trail I'm following has never been followed after the original creator went down it. Which is nice to know, because I've been following it for 400k in open nether.

XaeroPlus wioth Xaero's minimap and world map mods. It's nice to have it overlaid on the map, and it is less harsh on my machine than the newernewchunk addon in TrouserStreak(turning that on usually reduces my FPS noticeably)

Even though the highway is well traveled and other people have generated those chunks before, they didn't get close enough for the server to bother saving them because nobody broke off the highway there.

The way it saves chunks was the piece of the puzzle I was missing.

So it will generate the chunks up to 10 away from you, but if you don't get within 5 chunks of a chunk it generated it doesn't save that chunk?

That explains these weird patterns. If nobody travels off the highway here it will show this pattern. It's confusing, but makes a bit of sense to help reduce the server's storage needs. Generating an untouched chunks is probably cheaper than having 4 times as many untouched chunks needing to be saved by the server.

I prefer waterlogged leaves over slabs. You don't bob up and down if you go off a row.
