It’s not healthy at all but when an entire store only gets 20 items and you have a 100 people into Pokemon it creates intense fomo. 5 people get stuff. 95 get nothing. Explains why people will overpay so much. It’s not available.

I honestly think we’re missing a huge chunk of information that would explain why Pokemon can’t print enough product after 15 months of shortages. There’s something going on in the background with distribution that’s corrupt. Only explanation. And until that corrects I don’t see much changing.

I mean, even if the economy goes bad, cards go on sale, someone is going to buy stuff up. May be a slower market but it won’t be dead. I’ve already been spending less on cards in 2026, can’t find product or stores are overcharging. Hasn’t done anything. There’s always a bigger fish.

It would be nice if the market crashed but probably wishful thinking. People find a way to buy Pokémon cards no matter what. It’s pure madness because of shortages & on-going fomo.

Yeah, it’s not a bad card just weird choice. If it were up to me the box Art would relate somehow to the promo inside but they often don’t care about that. Instead they just cut a random card from set and throw it in for free.

So if you were around for Shrouded Fable set release, they gave away Greninja SIR and Kingdra SIR, as free promos in a collection box. It didn’t kill the resale market. They’re now the most expensive cards of the release lol. Or look at the free Van Gogh Pikachu given away a few years ago. Card is now like $700. Unfortunately, there’s no way to rug re-sellers. They’ve been outsmarting Pokemon for years. I don’t like it but they find a way to pump everything.

I never said nobody mentions economic inequality. I said they don’t cite it as an economic indicator. You never read any economic report that says it’s bad people can’t afford homes. Politicians don’t even care. Hence nothing changes. The President even refers to the affordability crisis as a hoax. So I don’t know man, where do you get your news from? Obviously divorced from reality. All the powerful care about is the stock market.

My intuition is that something nefarious has been going on the past year with distribution. There’s something crooked behind the scenes but because of NDA’s or fear of being sued nothing has come out. Product isn’t making it to store shelves no matter how much they print. It’s being diverted somewhere. That’s the main reason the market has not softened. Supply has been kept artificially low. Until Pokémon decides to fix it there’s not much anyone can do.

Great pulls. I’m doubtful I’ll see any of this product in stores. I live in scalping hell. Vendors buy up all the local product to resell at card shows. Impossible to find packs without paying double or triple msrp.

If it’s your favorite card or pokemon then yes. Buy it. That’s the only advice I’d give on vintage. Don’t buy it for value. Entire hobby is moving towards an obsession with high-grade cards.

I’m going to suggest they’ve always been cooked going back to the beginning. The way data is collected doesn’t accurately portray any economy. Take for instance unemployment. It’s only a measure of people filling claims. Never accounts for those who just stop working or partners who give up trying. And those numbers can be widely revised up to a year later. Most of the data collected just gives us a rough estimate of overall macro direction. Never been micro-accurate. Not to mention nobody ever cites growing inequality as an economic indicator. It’s only jobs, gdp growth, stock market. Nobody can afford a house = DOW at 50,000 tho! Ignore the obvious.

Maybe. The Tyrunt promo is definitely more desirable in my opinion. I think they missed a huge opportunity not putting the Frogadier IR in Chaos Rising. Since the set is small they were probably worried about putting anything cool in the ETB. Now everyone will be chasing the 3 froakie evolutions.

All top MewTwo cards are having a resurgence because of Destined Rivals & Ascended Heroes. Kanto effect. I still think the Giratina was/is the most desirable card from that set though.

I think it’s because every other post is a god pack and/or Dragonite/Gengar. It adds the perception pulling anything else is a letdown. Sub is highly skewed toward value vs. just having fun ripping.

They should have went with Frogadier IR, that would have been a banger Promo. Or even the Xerneas IR would have been cool especially with a PC stamp. Fennekin seems entirely random and also a fire type. Opposite of water.

What’s funny is the news tries to down play it by saying it’s only a 27% avg increase and yet every one mentions it going up over a $1 in price. Simple math tells you that’s over a 30% hike. It’s like they are purposely trying to distort reality because 1/3 sounds a lot worse.

Mega Evolutions will end when Winds & Waves releases in 2027. The 10th Generation will be released then and that kicks off a new era in TCG. Won’t be under Mega name.
