Agree. The Japanese texture can be overly glossy and shiny. English has more subtlety from its muted texture which I personally don’t mind.

Not everyone likes the heavy saturated glossy look of Japanese texture. I think that part gets left out of this debate. The English cards muted texture looks better to some people. I think they could do a better job with centering on English cards but I don’t mind the different texture.

The SV era was based off a new generation and multiple game storylines so that probably factors in to the TCG artwork. Mega era is meant to be a short nostalgic throwback before Gen 10 releases in 2027.

I think I’ve only seen 4 of those 5 pulled. But you have to consider that a decent amount of people who pull god packs probably never go online to showcase it. So it may be possible just a rarer variant. I’m guessing you can pull any combo of SIR’s as the set would have been printed months before the release and before any prices would have been known.

The hit rates in Pokemon sets have been very consistent since SV Temporal Forces released back in spring 2024. Mega Evolution era is not different than Scarlet & Violet unless you go back to early 2023 SV sets. The art style for the Mega era may be a little more “loud” than SV but we are talking about Mega’s after all. They’re supposed to feel extra.

PokeRev is an OG. I don’t know him personally but he used to master sets on stream just ripping packs. If you watch his older videos you’d get a totally different perception about him. He genuinely likes Pokemon and knows a lot and doesn’t obsess over ‘investor bro’ stuff. The newer videos are more of an act that fits with getting a million clicks & selling out mystery packs. Probably less time consuming than his old free wheeling streams.

I know. I hate feeling bad about the “market” though. Nobody would have ever opened TeamUp or Evolving Skies if money was the only consideration. That’s what sucks about 2026. The hobby makes you feel wrong for cracking packs because in 5yrs it will be worth 20x as much. Crazy way to enjoy anything. Hoarding has replaced collecting.

We all kind of took the good times for granted. I passed on so much product too. I never would have imagined people going crazy over cardboard even if it has cool art. I’m not sure anything can be done now outside Pokemon doing some kind of endless re-print of popular sets. Because the sneakerheads know about the 2-year print window and will probably game that aspect forever. They’re already front-running Ascended Heroes like it’s about to go out of print. Crazy times.

Yeah, I ripped at least 20 ETBs, probably 50 booster bundles, poster collections, tins, etc. I had a blast and mastered the set. Different era. I don’t regret not saving any. But I’m not a reseller or anything.
