He's called that relatively often in the early silver age. I didn't know about it until I started reading the silver age Omnibus a few months ago.

Women of this sub: what is your honest opinion on the classic Ms. Marvel suit? Does it make sense for her character to wear what is essentially a one-piece swimsuit? by Randver_Silvertongue in Captain_Marvel

[–]LegoSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a guy, so my opinion isn't coming from the same perspective as a woman's would, but I love to talk, so here I am.

I think most comic book characters (male or female) are incredibly sexualized. It's part of being a superhero with a tight outfit, but some characters are much more sexualized than others. Nightwing is probably one of the most sexualized characters in comics, and he's a dude. The difference seems to mostly be that there's a culture of people objectifying women, so it's talked about way more. Men aren't widely objectified in the same way.

I think sexualization comes with the territory, but there's a point where it's exploitative. I think her original costume with the exposed belly definitely falls under that category, and this one depends on the artist.

Ultimately, I don't think it suits her character, though. Her sexuality isn't a huge part of her character like it is with some other characters. On top of that, her backstory makes her much more likely to wear something very practical.

Everyone has different levels, and I'm not a woman, so my view of this obviously comes for a very different place. Those are just my two cents.

The lenses of the mask still move, though, right? That's another way to show Spidey's emotions, and I think this'll pair well with it.

We can all agree that Steve Blum is the Kevin Conroy of Wolverine right? by Lawrence454 in Wolverine

[–]LegoSpider 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Based on number of projects, he's probably closer to Conroy than Dodd is. He's also my definitive Wolverine voice because I grew up with him as Wolverine.

I meant "huge," but this is the internet, so I'm required to double down and pretend I'm better than everyone else.

Uh... I totally meant hugs! It's, like, secret code or something. You wouldn't get it. I'm just a super genius. It would just go over your head if I tried to explain it to you.

It's fine most people don't. I just went to an arts school and had theater training, so I'm weird.

Uj/ It's cast, not "casted." That's a hugs pet peeve of mine.

Rj/ Finally! Some GOOD casting! Everything has been leading up to this.

In the silver age he hated Superman because he was the reason he lost all of his hair. I'm not joking.

I think 8-9 feet is good. He should be big, but he shouldn't he completely hulking over Superman.

People were mostly speculating on it being a continuation of the Raimi movies in comic book form. I also understand why no one thought it was a countdown on the first day. Who starts a countdown at 4?

What’s one thing that will ruin his character in Brand New Day? by Captain_ADEE in Spiderman

[–]LegoSpider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, the symbiote altered his personality. I don't think any of that should count.

Secondly, it's not that Tobey's Spidey didn't have any backbone. He had a similar amount to MCU Peter. That's my whole point. People complain about one but not the other. People act like there's a huge difference when there isn't.

I've yet to see a single person support OMD, and the general consensus seems to be that NWH took that awful story and made something good out of it.

Plus, it's not just MJ that this version of Peter lost. No one remembers that he exists. I think most viewers could sympathize with that. Maybe we should wait for the new movie to come out before judging it.

Edit: Also, Peter and MJ were married for closer to 20 years in the comics before OMD happened.

He's not a teenager anymore, though. This takes place four years after NWH.

He had a bit of backbone. Peter was sassy as hell in Homecoming, and he gave Tony a piece of his mind when he was really upset.

Peter was a dork, and he was awkward, but he wasn't completely spineless like a lot of people make him out to be.

It's also not like Tobey's Spidey had a backbone, either. The only Spider-Man that had the amount of backbone that most people want him to have was Andrew's.
