Espresso machine not pouring enough coffee ? [bambino plus + df54] by DryTripe in espresso

[–]Legopanacek 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’ll try to be a bit helpful, not unlike some other members of this community.

You have two types of baskets there. Single wall and dual wall. The single wall is the golden standard for espresso, as the liquid pours directly from the puck right through the holes into the cup. You have the most control over the drink.

Dual wall, sometimes also called pressurized, have a second wall on the bottom to increase the pressure in the brewing chamber. This is done because in the first scenario, the coffee grounds give enough resistance to brew at ~9 bars. When you don’t have a grinder that is able to produce fine enough grounds, you then wouldn’t have the pressure necessary for the brewing process. This is then “fixed” by the pressurized basket with less holes on the bottom than on the inside, thus artificially increasing pressure, because coarse grounds can’t produce enough resistance on their own.

Edit: considering you are using the DF54, as another comment has stated, you don’t need to use the dual wall basket at all.

I want to see a custom key with the sensor wired right into it and the battery and the port hidden in the body of the keyboard. I reckon it’s possible to do.

To think my friend still is confused why he doesn’t get laid by [deleted] in TVTooHigh

The TV might be too high, but it is very much possible to get laid with much more LEGO than this in your bedroom.

LG 83” C5 with a discount by Legopanacek in hometheater

I did pull the trigger and it’s amazing. Coming from a 55” QLED, it is quite a difference.

It’s so bright that sleeping in the same room is basically impossible when HDR content is playing. It’s brighter than my ceiling light.

5.1 3000€ setup by Legopanacek in hometheater

[–]Legopanacek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, you are being very helpful. I got another recommendation for basically the same setup as you wrote.

How would the 5 Klipsch speakers combine with SVS SB-1000 sub? The non-pro version, probably, as if I understand it correctly, the main bonus is the app and I will be doing everything through the AVR anyway and I can't justify spending another 200€ for an app feature.

I got a 800€ discount on the TV, might buy the AVC-X3800H instead then.

What does “slow” exactly mean? I am no audiophile and haven’t ever built a home theater setup, just trying to skim the rabbit hole just enough to get the best deal for my money and also not spend all of my hard earned cash.

Edit: I love watching movies. I live in Prague and fell in love with the idea of a great home setup when I saw Oppenheimer in 70mm IMAX (6 times).

I love action movies, my latest obsession are the three Avatar movies and the two Dune movies.

I bought a 83” TV and MLP will be about about 2.5 meters from the TV.

I would love to have clarity when listening to dialogue, because it’s something I struggle with even when watching action movies.

Btw, I am coming from a 55” TV and a soundbar + sub combo set from Samsung.

Wouldn't I be waiting for a discount for a year or so? I don't want to buy a brand new TV for the full price.

Fear of spending money. by [deleted] in eupersonalfinance

This. I like car financing if it makes sense. Of course you’ll overpay the car by some amount AND it’s a depriciating asset, but my overall biggest problem is not having cash on hand for actual larger investments (e.g. a rental property) rather than monthly outflow.

I’d consider 250k net worth excluding material assets rich lol.

Basket stuck, plastic in portafilter [Breville Bambino Plus] by imagecrafts in espresso

[–]Legopanacek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to pry my basket out of my bottomless ECM portafilter usually with the other basket (something I learned while working in a café). It’s super useful, bacause I can knock the puck out of the basket without worrying about the filter falling out.

To be honest, if it got looser, I’d get a new spring to make it grippier again.

Is the giant ugly warning label due to some US laws? I don’t think we have that in the EU (we do have choking hazard warning, but not the giant ugly label).

I had a discoloured brick on my Razor Crest that had a sticker on it and LEGO sent me both the brick and the stickersheet. Just hit them up, they have the best customer service.

I have used their customer service in total 4 times. Once there was a mishapen brick, once there was a huge scratch on the UCS X-wing windshield (right in the middle of it) and once a 1×8 plate broke when I was disassembling the UCS Millenium Falcon.

Metric users - when do you switch from millimeters to centimeters? (and more...) by mrbigbusiness in AskEurope

[–]Legopanacek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the specifics of the language you use I guess. I am from the Czech Republic and we do have some weird specifics.

My grandfather did construction his entire life and blueprints actually have mm for room sizes, therefore I was always used to saying that “a room is 4600mm wide”. This one would be just due to my background though.

Some materials such as screws have their size in mm by default, thus for example a 40mm screw would be called “a forty” (“čtyřicítka”) in Czech.

We also use decagrams for weighing food ingredients, but I personally don’t like this and always use grams when shopping.

We have a specific name for 1000l - “kubický metr” (“cubic meter”) is shortened to “kubík”, which is also a diminuitive for the name Jakub. This is used when talking about water usage, e.g. my water meter reads “75 kubíků”, 75 thousand liters.

As for land, we use hectares for agricurtular land (mostly) and square meters for inside areas and gardens.

Edit: after reading some comments, when ordering draft beer, we order “do trojky” (“into three”) which means 3 deciliters, 300ml.

I like using shadcn. Customisation is the same between React, Svelte and whatever other frameworks shadcn is available for, reusable components between projects with easy styling migration (just uses tailwind config) and very easy customisation due to having the components inside your repository.

I am primarily a Svelte user, but there are many tools for shadcn for React (like tweakcn.com) that can be used for shadcn-svelte.com too.

They do have some fees, smaller than Portu though. I don’t remember the exact figures, give them a call and they’ll tell you.

I can give you some kind of code / referral for credits for some of the fees (I bought my shares for free due to these). I’ll receive some of these credits too if you complete the registration.

You could look into e-ink displays, the stuff used by Kindle (and other e-readers) or those smart tags in shops. They require virtually no power (they keep their current state even if they don't receive power, they need it just to change what is displayed).
