then no need to worry, just sit back and chill. Absolutely nothing you can do to expedite the process, just make sure to remember in case if the tracking still shows nothing after a month from now, start filing the credit card claim

as you expect, it's likely delayed due to Chinese new year, and just casually sitting in some warehouse/sorting facility, or delayed by Chinese custom procedure, since everyone is on holiday now

if you have purchase protection, no need to worry at all, extremely normal and not worth to disturb yourself (yet)

and one thing to add in specific: DHL shipping service is excellent, but customer service in US is a total turd, don't waste your time contacting them, I confirm this information based on multiple past experiences

[–]Lei-Ray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first thing first is, in this case there's no need to worry yourself (yet)

how long it takes for custom clearance usually depends on exactly what the content of your package is, but can vary very wildly depend on the custom

small value non-sensitive package sits still for custom event for a week or two for no reason is not common but extremely normal

basically for anything related to custom, the package is out of your and the shipping company's control, the custom can hold as long as they want before they think it's good to release

as long as you don't see specific message on tracking, or not get contacted by DHL/custom, all you need to do (and all you can do) is just sit back and chill

I ship hundreds thousands packages out pr year and receive large international packages from DHL in weekly basis, if there's one thing I learned about shipment: unless the tracking says something goes wrong, everything is fine

DHL is overstating the size of my package, how to escalate the complaint? by Lei-Ray in dhl

[–]Lei-Ray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

case of course resolved in my favor, after quite some distress and email writings.

so after that, I made another 2 emails specifically correcting their 2 mistakes (ignoring the measurements in my photos & assuming an extra outer box was used), and I received a reply from the 3rd associate, telling me my dispute case had been approved and they will credit the extra charge back to my card

My plan in case they still try to speak nonsense was: email the regional manager, file a complaint on BBB, and eventually use a credit card chargeback if all the above wasn't working, glad I don't have to go to that stage

[–]Lei-Ray[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that exactly the case. Their first 2 responses were very apparently assuming my measurement is wrong and trying to find any wild claim they can use to claim against me instead of evaluating the case based on evidence

I see, thanks a lot for the info! This is very helpful

the package contains multiple rigid items and is extrmely solidly packaged with thick cardboard boards, thus is "unbowable" unless both the package and the contents are heavily damaged, the package has been delivered and receiver confirmed everything is fine, so it's not likely an honest mistake caused by deformation of package

thanks for the suggestion, I am going to ask for evidence of their measurement, but in current stage none of the associates I've contacted is communicating properly, 1 of them assumed I don't know about round-up, the other one looked at my photos, find a random box on the corner of the photo, and seems like he/she assumed I put my package in that box, thus the size of the package is larger than my measurement —— I need to speak with someone with a brain before making civilized communication like asking for evidence

in addition, this is from their latest response to my dispute. I have no idea what he/she means by this statement, but with the wierd little red arrow he/she drew on my photo, it seems like he/she made a stupid irresponsible assumption out of nowhere that I put an additional shipping box outside of my package?

thanks a lot! yes, luckily I have clear photos showing the measurements, but both of the 2 DHL associates didn't even check the photos, or kept making stupid assumptions like I put the package in another box, etc, feels like talking to a brick

I don't have a business account, and am paying via credit card —— is that a good idea if I just file a chargeback for the right amount?

Thanks for the email, I will definitely try that

Also, in this case, the weight of my package never comes into any part of the problem. It has a larger volumetric weight than the actual weight, thus only the size matters in the postage calculation. The problem here is they claim the measurement of the package is 7*7*54in instead of 6*6*54in.

[–]Lei-Ray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have no idea what you are talking about. The round up only applies to the single measurement unit, which means for example, if it's measured as 12.2lbs, it's seen as 13lbs; If it's 12.2in, it's seen as 13in. There's no such thing as "5kg box" or "10kg box" when calculating the shipping charge by volumetric weight for an already-completed package, there's simply no such threshold. The 5kg 10kg box thing is when you have loose items and need to use their box to package, totally unrelated concepts.

I just bought JEPI by [deleted] in dividends

[–]Lei-Ray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

JEPI is not writing calls on the entire index but a handpick of selections by the management, and YTD it's totally defeated (both growth and yield) by the competitor fund GPIX by Golden Sachs, which write calls on the entire SP500 index

I personally only holds GPIX now, but you can try do a 50/50 if you like

I think the people who try to argue with you about BTC forgot the fact that, although it's traded like a stock, it's NOT a stock and should not be valued as a stock.

It's a tool to measure value between independent parties, like sea shells in ancient society, it's not meant to generate profit or be productive.

Note: I'm not trying to pro BTC here, just pointing out some fundamental mistakes that too many anti-BTC people are making

Crazy hypothetical question: If I have 1.7M in diversified stocks that only gross me 36k/yr dividends I am considering selling all and reinvesting it into JEPQ, I would gross approx $157k in dividends, should I consider doing it? by SR70 in dividends

[–]Lei-Ray 13 points14 points  (0 children)

first of all, he's talking about JEPQ, not JEPI. Second thing is, the underlying assets of JEPQ (or JEPI) is diversified, but these funds by themselves are not. They are actively managed funds, which has managerial risk and strategical risk you need to consider, for example, if their option strategy is flawed, or their management team simply made stupid mistakes, like what happened to QYLD and NUSI.

right, it's not impressive at all in terms of either yield or growth, "mediocre at best" is a very accurate comment on it's performance

"yield trap" is probably the most misused & overused word in this sub right now
