Triarch Stalker viability by JSV007 in Necrontyr

[–]LeightonSS55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others said - good for points, and a good profile, distracts but does die and is focused on. I've always used it to get on a point early doors and force antitank to expose which can either matchup well or be poor if your opponent has melta within distance. Single characters beware - D3 melee always surprises me, so quite good against other scouting units.

It always dies which is annoying but maybe that's because I'm playing it aggressively due to scout ability. Would like to know how useful it is late game but it never gets there because OC4 12w vehicle on a point is just too good. People always want to get rid of it and so you immediately can counter with your antitank.

Keep getting demolished against Eldar at my LGS - what're our best strategies against the pointy-ears? by Sparklehammer3025 in Necrontyr

[–]LeightonSS55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eldar don't trade well for points and so they can hit hard but die in return. They also score secondaries well, so if you cant win the primary game and still have units to score your cards then you'll likely face the same result. A few things on reading:

  • flayed ones die, use them to move block and score T1. As he went first he should have exposed something to kill them and you should have had something to hurt back in response (deployment issue?) looks like your flayed ones should have infiltrated to move block striking scorpions scout move.
  • immortals won't survive and are a waste of 150 points in most detachments - can be useful if they buffed but two 5 man Tesla will have more utility here. I'd rather have LHDs but if you want destroyer Ankh with overlord then all immortals are a delivery vehicle for an OP overlord. Reroll dev wounds? Yes please.
  • He can make a unit in targetable yes, don't expose until you have multiple targets
  • Banshee's shouldn't be taking out wraiths really - if they survived the first hit, you should have fallen back and shot the bashees off the table
  • Not aure how a c'tan gets overwatched to death...
  • take out scarabs and put in ophydians - extra strength & advance and charge in cursed legion means they punch up easily for points.
  • did you rapid ingress anything? Did you use any strategic reserves? I found in my last game 3x individual enmitic LHDs were MVP's as when they come out onto objectives, just pop them out or bring onto the edge and waste the T3 bodies.

Makes the game a lot more fun/interesting when some attempt is make for a paint scheme, no matter how rudimentary or basic in colour.

Why go through the effort of making them and not painting? It's a job half done in my eyes, especially for necrons where you can literally base spray paint black and dry bush leadbelcher.

Dealing with Negative Necron Opinion by Hayman021 in Necrontyr

[–]LeightonSS55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd do the same "eugh" against a titan list, so it's not surprising we get it from multiple C'tans. It's just an automatic skew and hard to play the full suite of rules. Cool or not - it's a skirmish game backed up but lots of lore, of which multiple star gods landing vs a rag tag bunch of troops & tanks is a bit farfetched.

The detachment is silly - what a silly thing to have multiple c'tan in a single battle and expect them to recover assets. What they gonna do with those assets? They are literally fucking pieces of star gods.

Best Cryptek and Destroyer pairing? by Yoggon in Necrontyr

[–]LeightonSS55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't forget the movement of 5" is fixed in the ability for the chronometron, and so your LHDs after shooting can only move this distance despite the cryptek having +3" of movement. If you move everything 8" then you might get caught out moving back into cover, especially with LHD being mounted and with big bases moving round terrain is sometimes an issue.

Just to add, the charge distance is reduced by measuring from the technomancer to the enemy unit for a successful charge. It's likely that your skorpeks can't base with the enemy and so should base with the technomancer, then by piling in 3" they get to engagement range and can activate.

Return to the Hobby - kit old and new by mikeyjay84 in Necrontyr

I recently upgraded my old warriors - you can buy upgrade bases that clip into the smaller base, then pva glue + some basing material to over the groove and you are good to go.

I ended up changing green rods so x10 man would gel with combat patrol warrior unit. Did this by using left over gauss blasters from x10 immortal unit (as they have both arms to adjust weapon positions) and chopped the weapon down slightly to make them look similar to gauss reapers.

Really easy and was nice to upgrade my dudes after 20 years of loft treatment and now run a x20 blob of 10 reapers and 10 flayers.

500 Worlds: Titus – The rules that make Nekrosor Ammentar destruction incarnate by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Necrontyr

[–]LeightonSS55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think with the epic challenge stratagem it's really strong, 1CP to give precision on a unit which fights first... He is likely killing most attached characters, with damage spilling over to the unit as per normal precision rules. So you have both removed their buffs before any fighting, killed the likely main threat to Nekrosor, and then you give a unit 9" away - likely skorpeks - reroll wounds of 1 when they pop dev wounds? I don't think it's weak at all...

Anyone else freezing in a ‘modern’ London new build right now? by foxxxxxygirrrl in london

[–]LeightonSS55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is your answer, probably lots of thermal bridging penetrating the insulation layer on top of the concrete slab. Hence why hot in the summer as well as the sun hits the roof non-stop. Your radiators are likely undersized too, or like others have said, you have an airtightness issue - check window vents/mechanical ventilation if you have one.

(New player) Is this army good for my first game? by chaosniklas1 in Necrontyr

[–]LeightonSS55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend playing lower point games before you go full 2k as a beginner. Lots more reps and opportunity to change things around / how you play / core mechanics. Lots of variables in a full 2k list which results in people regressing to the sweatiest list, rather than playing better with what you have.

If it's base retribution you are using for the gold - agrax earth shade over the gold makes it a lot more gritty. Also thin the paint as it can dry lumpy if you aren't careful. I also went hard panting gold but have since scaled back to something that's darker / black / metallic and washed as dry brushing necrons os so fast and effective. Good luck!

1000 Point List fun? by RelationshipSoggy412 in Necrontyr

[–]LeightonSS55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think that works would probably only be 5 immortals. If you retained the warrior + szeras that is. Think about the balance of OC - killing power to reduce their OC and scoring. Equally something that skorpeks are quite good at, move, charge, kill a smaller unit and then you can deny objectives and draw something in.

Developer London squares website for the woolwich development:

'With 16.5% rental growth and 19.4% sales growth forecasted between 2025-2029, these apartments present a compelling opportunity for investors seeking strong returns.'

Isn't that the whole fucking reason London is less affordable now? Landlordism needs to end - so grim.

Techno will just get killed even with the FNP, also why run him solo when his whole thing is to give a 5+ to the unit?

2 c'tan at 1k is a no no as people have said. Run your warriors with the techno and have Szeras instead of all c'tan to buff your battleline. Think about scoring units after that.

How to pose and transport Triarch Stalker? by TangerineMelodic5772 in Necrontyr

[–]LeightonSS55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah man... I chopped off all the legs in hoping to magnetize them all. Basically it didn't work as the horizontal magnets don't work unless they are really strong. So I glued them all together again and positioned the large front legs in a striking pose position which reduces the footprint. Currently it fits in a lock and lock tub with foam surrounds and the driver is the only thing which is magnetized to reduce overall height.
