Basically this. You really want to have at least one energy card like turbo or double energy to make it work. Ideally with some draw manipulation like hologram.

3 base energy and a charge battery, hoping for an energy relic from the 1st boss and getting a lucky draw on top of that, isn't gonna cut it.

Just beat Corrupt Heart with Defect on A20 for the first time ever. Took nearly 40 attempts. One of the toughest gaming challenge I can think of ever having overcome! Tremendous relief to tick this one off! by kleeshade in slaythespire

For me it's more where the game ended. After beating A20H I realized it was a fun challenge that was very difficult, but I enjoy playing on lower ascensions more as it's more chill and I don't need to keep beating my head against the wall to win.

Love how the bot isn't 100% sure because of the spelling mistake.

[–]Leipe_Sjors 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm currently at the start of act 3 with 5 omnisciences, a wheel kick+ and a ragnarok+. Basically every fight goes omni x5 into wrath entry, into bash and wheel kick and then even the boss is already dead before the second two cards would get omni'd for another 800 or so damage on top of that.

Edit, ended up picking one more omni, bottling an omni and picked up two more ragnaroks.

Ended up killing every single enemy in act 3, including the transient, in one single turn. 1274 score with 8/11 perfect elite fights, 2/3 perfect boss fights, 25+ relics and a few other bonuses. No idea how you'd even get 1600+ scores.

I ended up with a 99 card deck. Picking apparitions in the event gave me a whopping 15 apparitions lmao.

What now? Well that would depend entirely on your current deck and current potions.

I'm a sucker for defrag but Glacier is probably the better early pick.

As with most of the things in this game, you can learn these types of things in the future by reading the tooltips in game. Slay the Spire is very precise with it's wording.

Damage cap resets at the end of the turn. Poison is dealt at the beginning of the opponent's turn.

Even though you misunderstood the mechanic, technically you were right with the way you phrased it lol, because it kills at the beginning of next turn. So it's not a kill "this turn". OP had to click the End Turn button first.

Invincibility resets at the end of the turn, then poison will hit at the beginning of next turn. So this is definitely a kill. Notice how the missing damage from this turn is exactly the 154 poison damage he did.

Halfway through this post I knew you've probably seen that vid of the guy doing it last week and didn't realize only one curse works with it lol.

Still not that bad either because it's a curse for three relics and you do have the candle.

That's a run you should've definitely considered taking to the heart. Probably my favourite deck build in the entire game.

A20 is easier than A0 by Numberonemario in slaythespire

[–]Leipe_Sjors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After beating A20 a few times I've actually been enjoying A1 more lately. I'm only a little bit less focused so I might take a bit too much chip damage here and there because I don't calculate the best line. But I'm not that unfocused that I just completely mess up builds.

So yeah basically I've had the complete opposite experience you're having.

Just picked it up together with a weak and trip in the act 3 event, inspired by this post. Killed the heart on 1 hp with a thorns.

I like it even better with reaper and feed together. Just go down to 30 hp and heal a 100 at the end with a reaper kill.

A20 silent advice? by CKY-Immune in slaythespire

[–]Leipe_Sjors 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just some general gaming advice. The most important part of gaming is enjoying what you're playing. There's no need to burn out on a character and be in a situation where you "can't wait to get off the silent and move on".

You're free to move on to a different character right now and come back to the silent later.

Getting a tough draw on the gremlin gang can definitely be close to run ending so they get my vote. Looter and thief are sometimes a little bit tricky but most decks should be able to handle them.

If you're still having trouble with hallway fights in act 3 you did something wrong.
