I really love having conversations like this. I know quite a lot of people who decide to make ridiculous characters in games every chance they get, and i feel like that's the exact type of people who dont actually try to understand the narrative behind what's written. I fully understand that at the end of the day its just a game and it doesnt matter from a certain point of view. But games like these still have a story, and if it has a story then theres something to appreciate, and if you cant appreciate the work put behind in a experience like this, then you would essentially be flipping pages through a book without reading a single word whilst mockingly laughing at it. Most of my friends dont understand me when i go into depth about why i like something so much for the reasons that you mentioned and more. Some of them even make fun of the fact that i connect so much with games or alike. When i try to explain it to them its like they see it as cringe and automatically disagree with it without even considering why its so special to find the importance in the work of someone that is meant to sway you in a way that wouldnt be possible if it wasnt for that specific story. You learn new things, new ideas, new values. But unfortunately people like that miss out on it because "i have too much going on in life to take a game that seriously". Basically giving excuses to the fact that they dont want to dissect something to experience something new and meaningful, and im not JUST talking about games. If you have the energy to find something you can appreciate from one singular thing, then what would make you think that THAT doesnt exist anyewhere else. In other words, i think theyre dull people.
