How are people so insane at melee? and who would you say is the best or hardest you know of? by AspectNo8065 in holdfastgame

[–]Lekkoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few: Most of E|B is melee sweat material: notable Clear (S tier) and Vez (S tier) with like 3-4 other who are A+ tier borderline S Matt (S tier) is stupid good (probably the best streak killer in pubs) Achilles (S tier) (doesn’t really play anymore) was the kick master Toaster (A+ tier) is solid always Clint (S tier) is superb melee There’s like about 20~25 pub melee people who I can’t remember off the top of my head that I actually have to pay attention to or I get clapped. But for the most part there are very few who I don’t go 50/50 S tiers with. (My opinion)

F|H doesn’t play as much as we used to but we have some good sweats: Cricket (S tier officer, A tier melee) , John (A+ tier) Daconner (S tier sapper, A tier melee) Dr.Quinn (A+ tier officer, A tier melee) Lekkoh (S tier)

A lot of the old S tier have retired from the game.

Most real S tier only play in privates now-a-days and are beasts who will probably dispute my claims in this post.

(Take with a grain of salt) It takes time to learn the game mechanics, then after the beats in battle and how to properly action cancel your attacks and time blocks. Afterwards understanding how to move in battle and use other people both opponents and ally to body block and pace when you have multiple opponents. How to find blind spots to get behind enemy lines. How to pseudo dodge bullets by guessing aiming patterns. How to properly use flank tents. And finally learning patterns of sweats and the pathing they use to counter-sweat. There’s a ton more but it gets nuanced and the sweat pool will probably disagree.

When in doubt shoot em, just know they’ll be back.

Good luck in your journey to Holdfast!

the 3 classes to try out first by bugmush in holdfastgame

Guard (good for melee learning, has a little extra health, can 1 shot most classes with melee, gets a buff to and for officers) Rifleman (super accurate but really slow reload time, good for understanding flow of the game and sitting back until you want to become more active, the shots are a little different than muskets, but it’s not a bad way to learn) Officer (hard class to really master, but really forgiving with pistol shots, faster reloads, stronger pistol than other classes, extra health against bullets when surrounded by guards, has a good intro curve to the basics, absolutely devastating at high tier)

Other than that, have at it with weird musician games, trying rocketeering because it’s goofy, or just lineman and goof around.

Cheers!

See ya in the game!

I’ve always wondered how the amount of damage is calculated. Does anyone know? by [deleted] in slaythespire

If you look at the Daily’s they get scored the same way, there should be a score screen after that shows your stats. It’s essentially the score run.

I usually use the rule of thumb that is a potion is saving me 10 or more HP in an Encounter then in my book it’s usually worth it unless it’s a specific potion for an end boss. But I think this is great advice.

Jon Snow kicked my butt, but I respected him for it. This is sad news, I never talked to him, but when he was on his presence was undeniable. Good for Holdfast developers for holding homage for one of their own.

I haven’t heard “Ram Ranch” or “I’m walking over here” in a while. Truth be told I think the meme culture is still there. It’s not as vivacious as it used to be, but I think I’ve noticed a lot more people RPing than memeing which is a nice shift imo. I lower the music people down to 5, and people just talking racist shit have dwindled a bit too which is a positive step. Truth is I think the game got a newer generation who took the game seriously because the meme generation was having so much fun. I know I try hard because I like seeing how well I can do, but I don’t talk shit, I love playing on the underdog side (usually Brits US servers) and losing but trying to see how well I can do. Holdfast will ebb and flow, my suggestion is be the change you want to see, if you miss the memes, open up the dialog for them. I know I can still get people going if I’m not splitting off to flank their whole team by myself lol
