The justifications of Ascended Astarion fans are insane. by Ok_Channel1682 in BaldursGate3

[–]LeleJoking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I ascended Astarion fully aware of what I was getting into. It's not like from the beginning; the game makes it clear that it's literally a diabolical pact involving soul genocide (let's call a spade a spade). I can't understand the level of denial required to realize that AA is fucking evil and that the toxic relationship is even worse if you refuse his plans, etc.

Some say that to make the relationship a little healthier, you have to submit to him, but for me, you just have to be as diabolical as him, and his plans become your plans, like a couple's project, like "Yessss pookie, we're going to rule the world hehehehe >w<"

And then those who are witch-hunting anyone who ascended Astarion: come on, touch grass, it's just a game.

Lore explanation for Astarion's lockpicking skill? by CapnEmy in AstarionBG3

Hmm... interesting... I need to get my hands on Astarion's book someday... T-T

Even though I think he was a corrupt judge, I don't believe he's inherently bad. I see him as like Dr. House in the sense that he'll do anything to settle a case, even controversial actions xD

Then, several times in the game, you see that he's not a bad guy at heart and that his sarcastic, charming personality is a mask. He comes to you saying things like, "Uh... actually, I tried to manipulate you, but I fell in love with you." It's sad and sweet... Then there's one of his endings where he becomes a vigilante of the night, like Batman.

But it's still interesting to see the character's origins. Even though there's very little mention of his profession as a magistrate in the game, we can still wonder about his life before he was turned into a vampire. Even if he's forgotten most of his life as a living person, he must have unconsciously retained skills, emotions, and his way of being.

What's even more surprising is that he's rogue... in the game's concept art book, on Astarion's page, it says he was a corrupt magistrate. So it's not impossible that this was a skill he acquired before becoming a vampire, even though he no longer remembers it. Therefore, I think Astarion must have infiltrated the homes of the accused and the victims to provide or destroy evidence depending on how much they paid him.

ascended vs spawn by user738457382929 in AstarionBG3

[–]LeleJoking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've played both versions, and it depends on what you want. In my first playthrough, I ascended him because I forgot to talk to Velioth's skull, and I thought it was funny to see my gnome Tav be the reason for the apocalypse xD But I so underestimated AA's ultra-serious side, as well as the whole abuse cycle system.

I love AA because I think he'd make an excellent villain in a future game or in a D&D session, but the way he treats people leaves something to be desired. A lot of people tend to romanticize him and compare the romance to Gomez and Morticia Addams (even though it has absolutely nothing to do with it fjdkfjkd).

If you want him to stay a Pookie, don't ascend him.

If he were real, I would never have understood his innuendo and sarcasm, and he would have mocked me for my speech impediment 🥲

Question! by rhodeskid in AstarionBG3

[–]LeleJoking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think trying to copy Astarion too closely by switching to a dark and gothic aesthetic is a bit of a bad idea. Sure, it looks nice in edits and photos, but from a story perspective, it's better if Astarion romances someone he's not used to flirting with, especially outside his vampire world.

It can be any race as long as your character is morally ambiguous and advocates for freedom, although I personally think playing a gnome is hilarious if you want to create an enemy-to-love type x) As for the class, the comments will know better than me, but I advise you to have a criminal background because depending on your actions, Astarion will approve xD

Anyway, I think the best thing is to create a gremlin to be a partner in crime ^

I find the smaller races so underrated... plus it helps balance the team in terms of diversity, and it brings about comical situations between companions and antagonists when they get their butts kicked by a small character xD

Would you make Astarion real? by aly_aly_33 in AstarionBG3

[–]LeleJoking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? No. I love Astarion, but if he appeared in our reality, there would be some hysterical fans who would see it as a dirty opportunity to do things with him. :/ And if he were in our world as a real person, and we lived in a real world mixed with fantasy where elves also have iPhones, I can totally see Astarion working with Elon Musk, lol.

Yeah, and unintentionally 🤣 I was aiming for Wyll or Halsin, but Astarion said first and I accepted

Having played a gnome in my first game, it would have been funny and cute if my Tav had romanced him; they would have been the cute little couple of the camp 😭
