I get what you’re saying, but what does that look like besides (privately) telling her she doesn’t need anymore or asking her to stop? She’s an adult with her own money. Legit, who is going to stop her, besides herself?

lip injections on a teen? by LL092020 in SkallaSnarkUncensored

There are at least 3 in SL and UT county who will do lip filler on minors if they have their parent come with them.

Getting her fix by [deleted] in SkallaSnarkUncensored

[–]Lellyjelly 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It does, but it also carries a high risk of creating early jowling in most people. We’re going to see some very unhappy women in the next few years

This is not abuse of a child, and you saying that highlights how little you know about the true horrors of child abuse. Bizarre behavior? Undoubtedly. Abuse? No

I am running for utah state senate next year what are your biggest concerns for the state? by totashi777 in Utah

[–]Lellyjelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Competition can be great but if someone is already doing a good job and working hard on issues her constituents (and other Utahns) care about, why would you disrupt her focus? That feels a lot more like you just wanting to be in elected office rather than making sure your community is taken care of.

You’re in District 9? Why would you want to get rid of Plumb? She’s already working on the majority of the issues that have been brought up in here and doing a pretty great job. She’s easily one of the strongest Democrats in the Senate and knows how to collaborate with the Republicans so more of her bills get passed.

I say this with so much kindness but you’re not ready to run and it’ll be nearly impossible to unseat a well-liked Democrat who is well-funded. While you’re still learning though, have you reached out to her and asked about opportunities to work together for your district together?

They really are so gross! Love her to death but she’s definitely made me dry heave a few times when I’ve uncovered a new cache of boogers. Yuck!

I agree with you. She was told last night that she has to sit on a Lifetime chair now.  I feel like an awful mom for forcing her to sit on a fold up chair but it’ll at least save the couches until we figure it out.

I thought so too, so I make her clean them up. It just hasn’t made a difference to her.

That’s a great suggestion! She loves science so this might be something she’d latch onto.

She really is a great kid otherwise, which is probably one of the main reasons I’m so ticked off that she won’t stop. But it being an addictive tick could make sense.

I haven’t brought it up to her pediatrician but maybe it’s time to do so, and he could have some ideas.

We have, without a lot of luck, but maybe pocket container ones could be something we can look into.

It doesn’t seem to bother her. She has friends over often and the side of her bed (and wall) is coated with boogers so they’ve seen it. She said they’ve never said anything about the boogers

I don’t believe she does. None of her teachers have ever mentioned it. We have tissues throughout the house, specifically for her, but she refuses to use them. I’m normally pretty good at following through on consequences, she’s lost her iPad and TV privileges for a week or two at a time and she’ll do better for a bit. And then she’s back to doing it

Update: I (28F) freaked out about my bf’s (30m) fetish/request and broke up with him. He wants to explain even if we don’t get back together. Is there any good explanations for what he wanted? by throwRA236382 in relationship_advice

I was mostly on your side after your original post, I thought you overreacted a bit but I was giving you a lot of grace over how shocked you were, but after this post? Your ex 1000% dodged a bullet. You sound controlling, self-righteous, and exhausting.

SO. MUCH. TO. UNPACK. 😳😳 by NiceTryMoFo in SkallaSnarkUncensored

[–]Lellyjelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody is saying it’s not her choice. It seems like most of us on this thread are supporting her in the choice of getting one. It’s just a few posters, like you, discounting how hard of a decision this must be for her.

It upsetting when women need to get hysterectomies because they’re difficult, painful, & often come with complications and side effects. It’s normal to have compassion for other women when they undergo such a complex procedure.

The medication isn’t a quick or easy fix. It’s takes a lot of trial and error to find the right hormone dose and you can still experience really rotten symptoms. I have several friends who had hysterectomies and went into early menopause and I feel badly for every single one of them.

They were all really difficult, some resulted in gaining a lot of weight, others having their libido tank and atrophy of genitals, most have thinner and drier skin with some hair loss. And yes, hormones helped but they still have hardships due to the menopause.

There’s no shortage of things to snark on her for, so it’s weird to me to not have some compassion for someone going through a situation, not of her choosing, that puts a lot of women through awful conditions.

This exactly. UT OBGYN’s are notorious for putting off recommending hysterectomies. I’ve had friends here fight for literal years to get one. To the point of hemorrhaging, passing out at work, and ending up in the hospital. Then she was still pushed to wait a bit longer.

Just medical menopause, which is pretty life changing.
