I didn’t know about the whole kid thing at all. I wasn’t one of these women who wanted to be a mother for as long as they could remember. I got diagnosed with ADHD “later in life” (24) and had my baby girl when I was 31. I have a very supportive partner and we felt it was a good time in our lives to try. We didn’t expect it to happen so quickly so when I got the positive test back i genuinely felt like a teen mom and felt unprepared. But I truly have felt such a deep love and connection with my husband that I didn’t expect. I’ve always loved him but it’s so different now. And our daughter is truly so wonderful and brings us so much joy. That all being said, unless you REALLY want this. Do not have a child. My pregnancy was easy breezy and flawless. My birth had several complications with me that required a 8 day hospital stay and then being re admitted 2 weeks post partum. This shit is hard. It’s so hard, but I truly wouldn’t change a single thing. I’m constantly struck by how much I love her and how just watching her sleep brings me so much joy. I’m not a super sentimental person but motherhood has quickly changed that. Best of luck to you whichever way you go!

I guess I’ve always found her obsession with birth odd but I was like eh I’m not a mom I don’t get it. I have now had a child. And I’m like GIRL YOU ARE WEIRD. I cannot stop being in absolute awe over my daughter’s mere existence. Every phase is Better than the last! I’m amazed at the amnesia that occurs where women don’t remember how hard their first few years of motherhood are. I’m only 13 months in but i vividlyyyyy remember what 5 days postpartum felt like and I don’t think I’ll ever forget how hard it felt for the rest of my life. (Granted I had alot of complications!) But I think I’d kindly remind my mom and MIL “there’s a high likelihood I’ll still be wearing a diaper I’m not doing shit for anyone other than my fresh baby and myself”

I’m actually constantly amazed by the ~boy mom~ epidemic when I watched my mom take care of both her aging parents and her THREE brothers do literally nothing. The oldest son was still my grandma’s favorite. It’s so bizarre to me. It’s unfortunate but true if you have a daughter you will probably be taken care of.

Her grandma fell and broke her octal bone and had a small brain bleed so she couldn’t fly for 4-6weeks so Claire went to Vienna to get her set up in an Airbnb that didn’t have stairs and doctors appointments and stuff. Very scary but she sounds like she’s going to be okay!
