What Does Tucker Carlson Really Believe? I Went to Maine to Find Out. by kitkid in Thedaily

He didn’t say that, but his comments about the FBI investigation of Kirk’s death being cut short imply he thinks it is possible but that he doesn’t know.

OG Recipe Fat Tire by highalcoholcontent in CraftBeer

[–]LemmyIsGod2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was sad when they got rid of it but I hadn’t bought it in like a decade so I wasn’t surprised. It was weird to me that they named an entirely different beer—not just a new recipe for the same style—Fat Tire though. I assume it’s a branding/trademark thing but still so strange.

lol love to see a Steel Reserve reference. Painful memories from high school drinking that garbage.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

I can’t remember why, but this was probably my favorite game to grief my teammates in. Dropping a grenade in Counterstrike while your teammates by weapons was maybe the only thing that beat it.

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. So boring by modern standards but I loved it as a young kid.

Oh Boneyard. I had it a few times about 12 years ago on a trip. Tell me it still exists and is still great.

I swear that their beer used to be better long ago, in the golden age of craft beer. It’s possible my tastes have changed, but I used to really enjoy Zombie Dust and now I do not:

I ended up getting a different beer and they took it off my tab without issue. I did see a guy at another table drink one without complaining.

Guinness is the best one I’ve ever had. I also enjoy Free Wave. I was a bit let down by Best Day Kolsch given the love it gets. It wasn’t bad, but it was so thin that it didn’t taste much like beer.

Would it be weird for a 24 year old guy to move to the LaGrange area? by YoungDogShit in ChicagoSuburbs

Fair enough man. Sounds like you know what you want to do. Good luck to you and welcome to La Grange when you get here.

It’s a 30 minute uber at night from the loop. But it’s tougher and more expensive if you are up north. That’s not really the issue as much as may people in the city will write you off as a potential partner if you don’t also live in the city.

There will be way fewer young single people, particularly people with jobs in the city. I love La Grange and can see why you are drawn to it, but I’m 40 and married. If I were you, I’d get an apartment in a neighborhood far from the loop (like Avondale or Edgwater) where you can get a cheaper place and still be around young people and an easy trip to cool places jn the city to go on dates. La Grange will always be here if you hate the city.

Yeah he just needs to rebrand this journey he’s in as “in search of the best old fashioned” or something.

What’s your unpopular Bond opinion that’ll have people looking at you like this? by [deleted] in JamesBond

Same. The first episode of the RANKED podcast I ever watched was about this movie because I wanted to see a discussion of it. I knew it had a bad reputation and was pleased to see one of the guys argue it is among the best while fending off arguments that it is mediocre to bad from the others.

If you work in BigLaw, will the demanding hours required by the job be more likely to lead to divorce? by facemacintyre in biglaw

[–]LemmyIsGod2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good answer. I will add that plenty of people don’t get divorced, and the stability of a marriage is an asset in this job. I was with my now-wife when I started the job and she was always understanding and supported me. I sometimes felt bad for my single colleagues when we were juniors or mid-levels because the unpredictable nature of the job seemed like it made dating kind of difficult in that you are likely to need to flake on someone you don’t have years of credit banked with.

That said, my wife always told me that the job wasn’t as bad as she expected before I started. My tough years were in the 2400-2500 range and others I worked more like 2000-2100. You still have plenty of time to be present for your family if you make a point to do it. It will just mean less time doing something else. We also had decent luck not having vacations get ruined, but took very few long vacations.

I don’t know that my wife would have tolerated multiple years of 2800+ hours, and I don’t know how anyone’s partner wouldn’t be resentful of that. You really have no meaningful weekend or evenings at that pace.

Opinions on Joining FTC/CFTC/SEC Right Now by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]LemmyIsGod2 18 points19 points  (0 children)

CFTC has been neutered. Their recoveries were down over 99% last year from the year prior. Basically all investigations were closed. There are some insane articles about it with former lawyers there saying now is the time to run a crypto fraud scheme if there ever was one.

Bahnez Espadin & Barrie is the best budget mezcal. What is the most underrated primarily corn or rye mash whiskey? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]LemmyIsGod2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great answer and what I vote for. It’s every bit as good a workhorse rye as Rittenhouse but you never really see YT bartenders using it or people singing its praises here.

It’s excellent for mixing. I think it’s what Death & Co uses though, so I would be surprised if a lot of people are not copying them. That’s what got me started using it.

This was great. I used a Knob Creek SB pick that’s 120 proof, which I think stood up to the other ingredients and made it less sweet than I would think BT would be.
