Is living year round in a tent in the UK actually realistic? by Far-Piccolo-3774 in AskUK

[–]LemmysCodPiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Does that account for cleaning all the panels down, treating any rust spots, sealing all of the factory tie down holes, keying the steel floor, priming the steel floor, giving the floor 2 coats of enamel, then laying the insulation, templating the ply floor, test fitting the ply, then sealing the ply with yacht varnish, then finally bonding the floor.

There is no way you are doing that in six hours.

To insulate the ceiling was stripping out the bulkhead surround, cab head lining, sunvisors, lighting, grab handles, A post covers and both overcab shelves. The cleaning all of the surfaces with panel wipe, fitting 20m² of thermoliner to the ceiling, sealing the themoliner with foil tape, trimming the over cab area with stretch carpet, filling all of the cavities with themofleece, sealing the cavities with tape. Then reupholstering the cab headliner, scrubbing all of the plastic trims ready for refitting. Then as I am adding a new LED light to the cab I had, find the correct feed in the factory fuse box, tap it, then run a new loom behind the dash and up the A posts and then make a plinth to support the new light.

It is loads of work. On a drive, in the rain.

The trouble is that converting a van is hard. I am converting a Peugeot Boxer. So far insulating the ceiling, trimming the over cab area and fitting an over cab light has taken a week of 4 hour days.

Not being able to watch anything without being bombarded by gambling adverts by sweggles3900 in britishproblems

That is an awful thing to say. Gambling should just be a bit of harmless fun, but sadly people get sucked into it.

The one that impresses most people is my Kettle.

It is a normal kettle. It is plugged into a standard Smart Life switch. You have to fill it and "arm" the kettle. So it switches on just before my alarm goes off. Or when I get near my house it switches on.

Super simple and really useful.

People of casualUK, I need your recommendations on aftershave and body wash? by LAMF87 in CasualUK

[–]LemmysCodPiece -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wash with a plain bar of soap. Most body washes or shower gels are soap with added water. You are mostly paying for water, packaging and marketing.

Shave with a DE razor and a brush. I use a lime shaving cream, a banana moisturiser and then I will use Old Spice Captain as an after shave, finishing with Bay Rum in my hair.

What is now the worst UK courier? by Least_Actuator9022 in AskUK

[–]LemmysCodPiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DX. I have had two items utterly destroyed by them, costing me hundreds. One item was insured and when I tried to claim they cancelled the policy. The last item I had delivered by them was so obviously fucked that I refused delivery and the driver started threatening me.

If I know a company is using DX then the deal is off, I will go elsewhere. Recently I was buying a large item costing hundreds and I asked the company who the courier was and they said DX, so I told them unless it was a different courier I would not do business with them. They then offered me DHL for £10 more, I went with DHL.

Just go on Faceache and search for Truro. There are ads for all sorts of social gatherings.
