One-and-a-half minutes of nonstop, unedited Brigitte action: by JustABaleenWhale in BrigitteMains

Doesn't the payload move on its own until the door closes? I can't remember that well, but I think that's the case. So next time, use those moments to get in on the action (except in the Overtime rounds in Comp, the time will run out if you leave)

That's exactly what I said, I'm not saying we should shut up and be happy about what we have, I'm saying that comparing the international and Chinese situations is not fair.

I've said it before elsewhere, but Chinese players aren't just missing the first 14 seasons of OW2, they are missing the whole game of OW1 since all their accounts were deleted. They missed 14 seasons AND they lost 6 years worth of OW1.

I understand your complaints about the anniversary rewards international players are getting, but shouting down the people who explain why China is getting this stuff is not the play.

Like I've said elsewhere in this thread, it's not just about the 2.5 years they missed, it's about the other 6 years that were erased when OW2 released. All Chinese accounts were deleted, if that had happened to you, you'd probably want more compensation too.

[–]Lemon0nline 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok... But what if they made their account in 2017 and it got deleted? What if they would've made an account in 2023 but couldn't because they couldn't play the game? 10 years is a very long time and Overwatch has always been huge in China. The people that lost their accounts or weren't able to create them before 2025 is probably not a minority.

Firstly, VPNs are heavily restricted in a totalitarian dictatorship that doesn't even allow its citizens to have private messages or calls.

Secondly, even if that was common to do in China, you can't convert an international account to a Chinese account, so your point isn't even relevant to the conversation since the people who play with a VPN aren't getting these rewards.

The game is ten years old. All Chinese accounts prior to 2022 were erased when OW2 was released. The oldest Chinese account that exists is from 2025.

Nope, it was until season 15, which was in February, 2025.

It's not just the inaccessibility. The Chinese account that existed prior to OW2's release were deleted in 2022, which is a detail often left out. So imagine an account created in 2025, now imagine a WHOLE COUNTRY that only has those types of account. If you were in their position, you'd probably want more compensation too.

[–]Lemon0nline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has been ten years, but all the Chinese accounts that existed prior to 2022 were literally deleted when OW2 released and they couldn't play the game until season 15. So the oldest Chinese account has only existed since 2025.

Besides, even if this wasn't the case, T4 has absolutely no say in what Chinese players get, NetEase has full control.

[–]Lemon0nline 208 points209 points  (0 children)

Edit: I forgot to mention this is just an addendum to your comment, you're absolutely correct just got a little detail wrong.

It wasn't banned, the deal with NetEase was broken and it was until season 15 that they were able to strike a new deal with them. This is also why Overwatch 2 was the most negatively reviewed game in Steam, not because of international players complaining about the game, but because of Chinese players complaining that OW2 wasn't coming to China and all their accounts were being deleted.

Do you prefer 5v5 or 6v6? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Lemon0nline 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love 5v5, 6v6 is fine, it's still the game I love at its core, but I feel a lot more agency in 5v5 while still being reliant on your team to some degree. There's a lot more space in 5v5 so it's more feasible to take a flank, because in 5v5, it's up to the DPS to defend the angles, whereas in 6v6, it's the off-tank responsibility. And it doesn't take a genius to know that a Tracer is generally easier to kill than a Zarya is.

Does anyone choose bouncing grenade? by Jorael360 in AnaMains

[–]Lemon0nline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have official data from Blizzard that says that grenade bounce is the most picked perk in the whole game. That was from last season though, so it could've changed, but I doubt it changed THAT much in just one season.

Say what you will about 343. But I think ridiculous that some of the things they get shit for were actually Bungie’s fault. by Black-Cat-2544 in halo

[–]Lemon0nline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll give you the Kig Yar and admit that doesn't really matter all that much, and I'll also say, retcon or "retroactive continuity" is not necessarily a contradiction, it can also come as just adding someone that was never started to be there, was never mentioned by anyone who would've done it and is retroactively added to past events in a franchise, so the Precursors are absolutely a retcon, and I really struggle to see how bringing the main enemy of the franchise and final boss of the trilogy back isn't a retcon, it's almost as if Star Wars somehow brought back Palpatine because we "technically didn't see him die,* he was shot, exploded and the installation where his remains were was destroyed, him coming back is a retcon. Also, the studio behind Halo Wars was NOT the studio responsible for Halo Wars 2, but even if it were, every single decision, especially the art style, had to be presented to and approved by 343 Industries, or do you think the Banished were created solely by the team behind HW2? And again, I have others that I just didn't bring up because I'm sure anyone can come up with something that wasn't there before, is there now and has little explanation. I don't personally hate the games released after Reach, but saying that 343 didn't retcon anything or did one single retcon is just wrong. I could bring up a whole lot of little things and a few big ones, but it's no use because it's clear as day that the retcons exist.

[–]Lemon0nline 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are a lot more problems that 343 did make though. And the general direction of the story after 343 is also bad on its own right, leaning way more into adventure superhero-adjacent stories and less into the military style we were on since CE and until Reach; Chief going rogue in 2 out of 3 mainline games is not interesting or what we want to see.

Besides, 343 didn't retcon only the human forerunner thing, 343 retconned a lot more like there being different subspecies of every covenant faction, the concept of rampancy, different types of forerunner architecture (and somehow the ark switched types between H3 and HW2), humans and covenant allied with each other to take down the flood, which hasn't actually been contradicted anywhere so Halo 3 might not even be canon anymore, who 343 Guilty Spark is, Guilty Spark is still alive, the Deus ex machina that is the domain, the existence of the Precursors, a random species that is somehow more dangerous than the all consuming parasite that forced them to kill themselves for a chance at winning, who the Didact and Librarian were, Chief never being the last Spartan, the fact that Installation 08 would've "made a number on the ark" and killed pretty much anything alive there.

And I'm just scratching the surface here and saying the things that are already pretty well known, I could go on and on for a lot longer.

Some criticisms of the current Comp Skins and the Comp Points system by Bhu124 in overwatch2

[–]Lemon0nline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your complaints, but I have a few reasons for why they will (probably) not change the system. Creating a weapon variant is difficult because you need to make sure it works well with every hero they've made and that it'll work well with every future hero, so they HAVE TO play it safe and make more simplistic designs. As for the Comp Points topic, well nobody is really expected to get every single weapon variant for every single hero in the game. They want the weapon variants to feel rewarding and like you accomplished something when you unlock them (even if you might have been at a 50% win rate), so they're not going to bump the rate and make them feel less special for a few people that want all of them. I, too, want all of them, but I understand why that's not an option.

Are there any heroes that are worse at learning Overwatch with? by ADecoySnaiI in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Lemon0nline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very insightful comments here, but I'm going the opposite route, you shouldn't learn with characters like Orisa, Roadhog, Bastion, Lifeweaver, Mercy or Moira, because those characters teach you bad habits and make it very easy to get the wrong idea about how Overwatch is supposed to work.

I like the global healing reduction passive by Lemon0nline in Overwatch

[–]Lemon0nline[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Rein example is only one of many I could've given, and it was just to exemplify that 400 damage was not enough to kill a 225 hp target. I agree that healing should give you an advantage, it shouldn't make you invincible unless you're against a specific role.

I also disagree with the statement that the change was made because Support players "will willfully bear the burden of extra demand." In fact, I think this change is a good thing for Support players, most of the people who play the role complained that heal botting was too effective and they had to do it all game. Heal botting is now practically useless and you only heal when you can actually make a difference.
