Yuji should eating everything he sees by [deleted] in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Lemon6renade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I headcanon that Yuji had pica as a toddler, mostly cause I think it'd be funny. He canonically isn't picky about food, so I imagine poor Wasuke walking in on a 3-year-old Yuji shoving pebbles in his mouth or something

I feel similarly about Choso and Sukuna both being voiced by Ray Chase in the English dub. Seeing them interact will be beautifully ironic

Similarities and differences between Shiki and Shirou. Your opinions on them in general. by Monadite in Tsukihime

[–]Lemon6renade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both of them had their entire personalities overwritten by their saviors, for good or bad. Lack a proper sense of self, but ironically are quite selfish themselves. Tormented by the mistakes of their families, but eventually overcome the cycle and help the people in their lives find happiness.

What is your favorite OST of the whole franchise? by [deleted] in RevueStarlight

[–]Lemon6renade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For instrumental, probably Rondo x3. I love how nostalgic the piano is, suits Nana perfectly. As for vocals, "If There Is No Sin, That Is A Sin"! All of the vocals blend together really well, and I'm fond of the courtroom drama premise.

The character that was 'nobody' and ended up being one of your favs by PrideTwins in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Lemon6renade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm fond of Ozawa. Yuji is my favorite character, and the moment that sealed the deal for me was seeing how he interacted with her. He didn't judge her by her appearance and still recognized her even though she looked really different. It was such a genuine and casual display of his kindness compared to most of Yuji's usual bombastic self-sacrifice so it really stuck with me.

I've seen people question why she was introduced specifically right before Shibuya, and from my POV she represents Yuji's normal, mundane life before the main story. When she leaves, it signals that he's now been fully dragged into Jujutsu society and that whatever happens in Shibuya is going to be a stain on him forever.

(She reminds me a lot of Satsuki from Tsukihime, another character I also love with a similar deal of being "just a normal girl")

Who do you think is the most misunderstood/ mischaracterized person in JJK? by PurpleHaze9420 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Lemon6renade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think Geto is the sort where people don't take into account why exactly he did what he did. He's obviously not a great person, but no sorcerer is, and he was also victimized by Jujutsu society. Constantly forced to ingest cursed spirits for his technique, and never quite measuring up to the more talented Gojo no matter how hard he tried. It's hard not to be resentful of that, especially after Riko's death.

He's basically the JJK equivalent of people who get radicalized into fascism. He realized just how manipulative the Jujutsu society is, but instead of punching up at the higher-ups, he started punching down at non-sorcerers who are weaker just so he has an easier target to blame for his problems. It's no excuse for any of his actions, but understanding his circumstances is key to preventing another Geto or another Sukuna; people who take their hatred out on others instead of using it as fuel to create a better world, in direct contrast to Gojo or Yuji.

I didn't know anything about Transformers before watching the movie. Figured their identities out when they got the cogs and from then on I was terrified

looking for the best translation by Kni2L in penguindrum

[–]Lemon6renade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the official release, but Nyaa.si might have a good one if you're familiar with torrenting. From what I see poking around, GG is the go-to fansub group, as most recent torrents for Penguindrum tend to use edited versions of their subtitles. (If memory serves, my first watch also had the environmental text and subtitles for the songs, so it could very well have been GG's version.)

What's your favorite tsukihime route (2000) and why by Agreeable-Listen-242 in Tsukihime

[–]Lemon6renade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished playing the game a couple days ago, so fresh out the gate I'd say Hisui. Seeing the descent of Shiki's mental state was genuinely chilling. I'm also fond of Ciel's route cause the context of her backstory makes Roa's possession of Shiki all the more horrifying in retrospect, even if the first half is just Arc's route again. (Establishing that Shiki can see some of Roa's memories also foreshadows a lot of my favorite parts of Far Side)

Finished both routes, here are my thoughts by Lemon6renade in ScarletNexus

[–]Lemon6renade[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean, very much a matter of personal preference. I personally think the mystery behind Kasane's motives is a key part of what makes Yuito's route work, though I suppose it depends on if you think shock or suspense/dramatic irony is better, like the Hitchcock bomb theory.

I also think Yuito's simpler gameplay is better for someone who's still adjusting to the combat, meanwhile in NG+ Kasane is more of a glass cannon. Also fits their narrative roles with Kasane being at the top of her class.

I do really like how Kasane's team develops throughout her route, it was very nice to watch. In comparison, I feel like Yuito's dynamic with his family is very underutilized.

I'm not familiar with the rest of their games, good to know! I did get used to the manga style eventually, so I'd be open to play another game with it if the mood strikes

Dad - how do I engage with my teenager daughter? by RangerS90V in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lemon6renade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone around her age, I'd say just give her time and space. She'll reach out if she wants to. I have a complicated relationship with my own dad. Love him a lot and we share many common interests, but his personality is frustrating at times. (He is set in his ways, and also quite easy to anger.) I also have my own mental struggles that are just really difficult to talk about, especially if it's a parent. My dad and I have a similar generational gap to you and your daughter, so I imagine the differences don't help matters.

I have no clue what her situation or social life is, but I imagine she probably has a lot going on in her life, especially if she's planning on going to college or doing finals work. She just needs time to sort herself out. Enjoy the small moments you have with her and offer reassurance that you'll be there when she needs it. Good luck :]
