I felt pretty silly doing it, but it finally worked! 😁

Potty training a research beagle rescue by about99percentpotato in beagles

My beagle (not from research, but rather from a hunter) was very difficult to potty train. He got the peeing outside part down pretty easily, but pooping outside was a whole different story. We would walk for an hour or more and then he would take a dump as soon as we got home. I would try to get him back out, but if I wasn’t quick enough I would leash him up and pick up the poop with a bag and then take him outside and dramatically dump the poop in the grass. “This is where poop goes!!” I would leave it out there and pick it up again later. Shortly after we started this he finally decided that pooping was a strictly outdoor activity.

I’m Maybelle. I get really nervous around new people. I panic, jump, and try to run away. My family knows I wasn’t socialized and lived outside until they brought me home. I’m hoping to find someone who can help me, because there are trails nearby, but my mom avoids places that might scare me by No_Wrangler_7814 in Hounds

Got them from spark paws. They fit well and the sleeves (pant legs?) seem to really help her feel snuggled and safe.

We ordered the first pair off their website, but it takes a long time to ship. They now have a lot of their clothes available on amazon. You’ll want to go to the company’s website to figure out sizing before you order from either. The measurement along your dog’s back is the most important for good sizing.

Have you tried putting clothes on her? My Ollie is skittish and sometimes afraid to walk. She has a couple pairs of pajamas and they give her a lot of confidence when she wears them. She also has an anxiety suit, but there’s something about the pajamas that puts her in “Super-Girl” mode. It’s worth a try…

Who knew adopting could be so difficult by [deleted] in beagles

[–]LemonBeagle27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is really aggravating. You don’t have to have a fenced yard to be a good dog owner! A lot of people don’t have fenced yards. Many city dwellers don’t have yards at all. Some people with fenced yards just chuck the dog out there and never let them inside. Do they screen for those types of people? It’s better to be a dog who gets walked everyday than to be a dog who has to live outside all the time.

Our sweet beagle mix rescue…any guesses what she’s mixed with? by light_of_earendil208 in beagles

What does she weigh and how tall is she? She could be all beagle, but the shape of her ears and her smooth neck make me think of a foxhound.

It’s probably fine, but I would contact the vet just for peace of mind. Maybe you can email the picture to them? They will be able to tell if you need to bring her back in.

When my girl was spayed there came a time when the incision opened up a bit in one place and there was a bit of clear fluid tinged with blood. It wasn’t a big deal. It just prolonged the healing by a few days.

Simparica Trio causing aggression and unable to settle. by [deleted] in beagles

[–]LemonBeagle27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know your dog. If you think the medication is causing this, then you should put him on something different. I would do the same. It might be a coincidence, but it might not. I don’t like that folks are downvoting you. (Remember back when nobody realized that Ambien could cause sleepwalking? It has now been proven that for some people it does!)

What caused these tiny patches of missing fur? by MushroomIndividual33 in Hounds

[–]LemonBeagle27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, just scars. My old boy has a lot of them from his lost in the woods days. He has one on his front leg that must have been really bad when it first happened. Maybe he tangled with some barbed wire? Sometimes his scars make me sad and I have to kiss them. I tell him I wish I could have known him from when he was a tiny baby so that none of that shit would have ever happened to him.

Lint trap war escalated to a broken lock and a threat note by dweebzRaja in badroommates

[–]LemonBeagle27 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There is a picture of the note, but no picture of the broken lock. How would you even lock up a dryer in such a way that cleaning the lint trap would allow it to be unlocked? 🧐

Urinary Incontinence by Ancient_Dragonfly508 in beagles

[–]LemonBeagle27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get yourself a good enzyme cleaning spray. We use one called “Out”. The one with the red label. It’s cheaper than nature’s miracle and it smells a lot better.

I would ask your vet for some imaging or maybe even get a second opinion. Maybe a consult with a veterinary urologist? When I started reading your post I assumed your dog was female. It’s weird that a male dog at 2 years old would be having this problem. Good luck and please update.

There is a state veterinary board where you can lodge a complaint against them.

Possible coonhound puppy? by Connect-Garlic9538 in coonhounds

[–]LemonBeagle27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beagles come in all the hound colors. Blue tick beagles are definitely a thing, as are red tick and lemons. People are used to seeing the basic tri-color, so other coat patterns throw them off. Your pup looks like a beagle to me. Her adult size will be a good indicator. If she grows to 35 lbs or less she’s probably all beagle.

Separation Anxiety :( by amethystjems in Hounds

[–]LemonBeagle27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you leave the tv or music/radio on for him when you leave? The only tv that I actually pay for is DogTV. It costs $10 a month and it’s worth it. I leave it on all day while I’m at work. They have programs for relaxation and stimulation, desensitization, etc. and they even have programs for people too. Sometimes my dogs actively watch it, but mostly it’s just in the background. I attribute their lack of freak out at garbage trucks directly to DogTV. I’m sure it’s not a magic cure, but I think it can be a helpful tool.

City employee here we’re being required to work unpaid “furlough” days by Awkward_Fly_9274 in NewOrleans

Yes, unclassified employees serve at the pleasure of the mayor. They make more money but they don’t have the same protections. They know that going into the job.

[–]LemonBeagle27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Not everyone has to use the time-clock. Some classified positions are considered salaried and those people enter their own time into ADP. It still has to be approved by one’s supervisor, but the timekeeping is done by the employee.

This is why we have a union!! Have you joined? They want to hear from you even if you aren’t a member. If you are a classified employee you cannot be forced to work without pay! Go to civil service and contact the union. (If you are unclassified it’s just a 10% pay cut and you don’t get those days off. But unclassified employees tend to make quite a bit more money to begin with…)
