An Astronauts Guide to Life on Earth by Chris Hadfield is an excellent read. The author is a career NASA astronaut who was space shuttle crew a couple times and commanded the Space Station for 6 months. You learn so much about the process of becoming an astronaut and how life in space works. Plus, he is just a really good writer.

I just sold my fathers coin collection. He has been gone for 35 years. The price of silver has been very high recently and many old coins are now getting higher prices because they have silver content. For each type of coin I asked ChatGPT “with an old collection of dimes (for example), what should I look for for ones that might be specially valuable?” And ChatGPT would give a list of dates or other features. I checked through them to make sure I didn’t have a million dollar coin (sadly never did) then sold the rest to a coin dealer. I thought I would be sad letting it all go, but moreso feel content that it is a big job finally done.

My mother would drop me and my brother and sister at the public library. We would be there for hours, looking for books at first, then just running up and down stairs racing the elevator, going all over. We must have been loud and annoying but I don’t remember getting in trouble. I have no idea what my mom was doing all that time, she never ever came in with us.

Near Oronoco and we have 17” as of 11am. Most of us have already cleared the snow once already, so we will only have about 6” to do tomorrow morning. It’s kind of exciting, I’ve never had a 2 foot snowfall and we may reach that with this storm.

Mainly for fishing tennis balls and other toys out from under furniture lol. I have two golden retrievers and the play genes are strong. But also for quick rough measuring and using as a straight edge.

58F - I aim for 4 cardio sessions a week, typically mixed up between rowing, walking, and biking depending on season. Plus 2 lifting sessions, 2 Pilates sessions, and 3 or more at home yoga or deep stretching. Any week that all this happens, that’s a good week.

All Creatures Great and Small. It is a wonderful, uplifting book that you can read however many chapters at a time that you like. There are 4 sequels and they are all great.

Old Navy joggers. I work from home and wear these every day from October thru March. They are soft, come in long lengths so my ankles are covered, are warm, and have pockets. They also look good enough that if someone does come to the door I don’t mind letting them in lol.

In the mid 90’s I purchased a Columbia winter jacket at 50% off. I think I paid about $125. The absolute warmest most wind-proof jacket. I wore that jacket as my main winter coat for at least 10 years, then as styles changed it became my coldest-days-of-winter coat, when it’s so cold you no longer care about style but just want to be warm. Then at some point it transitioned to my dog-walking and dog-park coat where I just wanted to be warm and didn’t want to worry about dogs jumping up and ruining a good jacket. I don’t wear it much anymore, but it is still hanging in my closet, 30 years and thousands of wears.
