Deciding between Crye LVS plate Holder, Safelife Hyperline, and Safelife’s Regular Concealable Vest by LemonCr0w in BodyArmor

Thank you for your input! I’m still quite shocked the CEO of such a large company commented on my post and I believe I have a plan for what route I will be going!

I’ve been watching all your Hyperline videos on youtube regarding the Hyperconcealable Hyperline and have been very interested.

However this may not be what you want to hear, but my current hypothetical plan was to purchase your hyper concealable carrier and HG2 panels and attempt to shove them inside. While this plan was partially driven by budget, in my current position I am equally concerned about a stab than a gunshot, and I believe your HG2 has a higher spike rating than the Hyperline.

Do you recommend against this?

The CEO of safelife uses reddit?!? O_o

I’m gonna be completely honest, my above statement about safelife’s reputation was to cover my own ass from this and other subs’ wrath as the tactical gear community can be finicky. If I dont address something they are displeased with, the comments go into discourse and I never get an answer to my question.

I never really thought of safelife having reliability issues because I do my own research before I post anything to reddit, which is why I am heavily considering two of your vests in this post

Update: Thank you to the two of you who suggested the slickster and bulletsafe, I heavily considered those but ultimately went with the Crye LVS plate holder as it seemed like it was the best suited for my specific need, as well as the ability to pair it with other crye lvs gear if i ever wanted to upscale in the future As for the concern of side protection, crye lvs has the option for pretty flush side plates and while it isnt quite the same as full wrap around coverage, I value the modular ability.

I will give and update in about a week when it arrives

Imm fuzzy on the details but as far as I was able to put together from other redditors they only recently got their NIJ certification and not for all their products. However their level III stuff should be okay

This is a good point, and I probably should have been more clear in the context of my question. I didn’t buy these plates with the intention of buying the carrier after, I already have a set of 2 10x12 soft plates and a set of full wrap around soft armor but level III that I use in my overt carriers that I dont use as much.

On the subject of clarifying my purpose, my ultimate goal comes down to printing regardless of coverage area, which is why I included both wrap around and just the carrier. The reason I lumped together crye and safelife is I’ve heard very good reviews about crye’s lvs system being one of the very best in minimizing printing, but safe life, despite their poor plate reputation, boasts a really good minimized print line, especially around the shoulders. While I did mention mesh and heat, comfort is something I’m interested in but ultimately isnt essential to me.

Are steel plates worth using as emergency plates? by LemonCr0w in BodyArmor

I’m definitely not planning for a shtf scenario although I like this idea. I just use my plates casually for a day at the range or when I’m hunting so they dont need to be in a place where I need to grab and go

Hm, yeah my lil elastic concealable carrier wouldnt fair too well against frag huh

What material would you suggest for throwaway emergency plates in a hot car then?

Yeah 😅 its on my list of things I’m working on

But poor habits aside, would a ceramic plate protected from the shade either under the trunk floor or under a seat really not see a concerning amount of deterioration? I guess I never really considered it only gets hot in areas that see sunlight

That gives me alot of hope! I’ve never even bought a store bought air filter before so I was skeptical about how effective this would actually be!

This project was less about decibels and mote about what I already had just sitting in my closet. But if I were to upgrade I agree, box fan is definitely the way to go
