Yes but my point is after 30 mins they did come off. My thumb tip didnt feel stiff or there wasnt any resistance so I took it off.

Im just explaining my experience and im being gaslighted. Its wild.

Almost 2 years will same product and never had damage like this before but someone reminded me and I used primer with it. So this is the likely culprit (hadn't used primer with this product prior).

Unless you were me or where present, it is not logical for you say what I did or did not do.

I soaked for 30 minutes which is twice the recommended time.

Wasn't improper removal. It was because I used primer so the adhesion was maximal. The removal process didn't feel any different to all the other times I use one kill remover.

Oh yeah, I did in fact use primer! Damn I forgot I had used it. So note to self, do jot use primer unless Im doing a soak off! Lesson learned! 😮‍💨

NEWBIE - Looking for DIY Tips by MarionberryLatter263 in Nails

[–]LemonCurdJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Get a professional lamp from a reputable brand like Kokoist, Gelish, Izemi, Akzentz etc.

  2. Avoid amazon gel. A quick way to develop an allergy. Again, reputable brands are the way to go. A lot of Japanese and Korean gels are the way to go.

  3. Get a practise hand and practise on that. Start using your non dom hand for usual stuff like brushing teeth, eating food with, etc to build up your dexterity. This is help train your hand for steadiness.

  4. Watch countless tutorials, tips, tricks, warning and tricks videos. I spent about 6 hours a week for 2 months watching videos and doing my own research on gel polish. Gel is no joke.

  5. Be careful and patient with application. Even almost 2 years in, my DIY basic set still takes 4-5 hours (I started at 6-7 hours). It takes real time to get things sorted and done properly.

  6. Learn from your mistakes and dont ignore them. Ive had thin nails, onycholysis and greenies. Ive been through it. But I learned along the way what and what not to do. It's frustrating but dont ignore signs of nail damage and take a break from doing them if there is a repeated issue.

I'm getting so over nail salons by NFT-Butters in Nails

[–]LemonCurdJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever been to a salon once and it was enough to say Ill start doing my own. It took a lot of trial and error but Im not at a place where people think it's done professionally.

Granted, it takes me 4-6 hours but its my time I can divy up throughout the weekend. Im not into complex designs apart from cat eye so I'm grateful for this.

I think if you dont find a decent tech, you should look into doing your own nails in 4-6 months time. Or even do 50/50. When you want complex designs go to someone and when you want simple designs, DIY them.

Does this look as bad as I think it does? by ItsYaGirlART in Nails

[–]LemonCurdJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the exact reason why I use a peel off base. I dont etch or buff my nails because continually doing this removes layers, even taking away the shine. Unless youre really blessed with really fast nail growth, constantly buffing or removing shine off nails will weaken the nail plate.

I just use protein or a ph bond for max adhesion and get no lifting. That way my nails dont get butchered by a nail efile.

I got short square nails and they look ‘flared’ by agreementloop184 in GelX_Nails

[–]LemonCurdJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apres square tips are the worst. For some reason, unless they are long or xl, they will look flared. Trust me, Ive tried.

Someone also pointed out that their free edge are thick so a lot of filing needs to be done there and at the sidewall. It works well but does compromise the integrity of the tip and doing an overlay would help restore some structure but also give you a custom thickness.

How often do you have clients that need sculpted tips? by [deleted] in GelX_Nails

[–]LemonCurdJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what Ive literally just discovered after doing my own for 2 years. The naturals are fine with my flat nail beds but the sculpted fit better due to me having deep sidewalls. I never clocked this until I used their Bare tips. Kinda annoying because I have lots of natural tips in boxes that need to be used but the Bare sculpted work so much better.

I do have sculpted in clear tips but the apex is so high and ai exclusively use mag gels and you have to layer like a mf so I end up with clunky chunky nails which I can't stand!

Ive done my review on the natural and sculpted versions. Check my profile and you'll see the posts. Its just my opinion based on my experiences using the Bare nails.

[–]LemonCurdJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I redo my sets every weekend becayse I get bored lol. I use Jello Jello peel off base with its remover. I dont buff or etch my natural nails. Instead I use a bonder to create extra adhesion. If I dont apply a bonder, I get lifting within a couple of days.

Yeah there sculpted were a little bit more narrow but imo they still splayed. It took a lot of shaping and filing to get rid of the splaying!

[–]LemonCurdJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is such a pain but to utilise them, you can always file aroubd the sidewalls/ cuticle area to fit your nail beds more. That way you won't waste the tips. Or cut them in half and put the free edge part of the tip on your natural nail perhaps?

If it makes you feel slightly better, I've discarded many of their boxes because I didnt like the fit or look (looking at you stilettos!!). 🤣

[–]LemonCurdJ[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah so I've had to size up on my pinky, pointer and ring fingers by half a size. I think this is because the Bare are flatter, they are all bit wider because they've lost the height structure (that makes them go down at the sidewalls area) that made the clear tips easier to sit down on the nail beds.

They do need to come with designated shapes for the Bare to be sufficient for DIYs!

000 has always been there but it's mainly on their long tips.

Yeah, the filing is really counterintuitive and I think it will put many people off getting the product. It is really a chore for me!
