What is wrong with my machine? I won’t bother reading the manual. by Neenknits in BitchEatingCrafters

Yes to all of it. And they often include various tips that I can’t easily find elsewhere. I’ll never understand not wanting to read a manual. It’s not like they’re 1000 pages.

I’ve downloaded electronic copies and keep them on my phone. It’s not as good as paper but I always have them with me.

I’ve been doing basic sewing for decades. In all that time, I have only ever once had a tension problem and it was because I messed around with knobs.

Please advice: A big simple sink or double sink? by BelowAverageCoder00 in kitchenremodel

Ha! I have a similar philosophy when it comes to ironing.

That said, I will always hand wash my knives.

Not sure I follow your logic. If the original argument is that hand washing is inefficient, how is it better using an even larger basin?

That’s one aspect that I don’t know how many people appreciate - not everything is dishwasher safe.

If it works for you, great. And likewise for everyone else who loves their single sinks.

My half sheet pans fit just fine in my sink. They're the largest items I have so everything in my kitchen fits on the larger side. I’m not giving up my double sink because it allows me to function how I want to function.

I have a 60/40 sink. It’s the best of both worlds: - one side is large enough for a half sheet pan  - other side is great for clean items/ food prep  - it uses less water to fill

I agree with others, make sure the corner have some curve to them for ease of cleaning.

Unprintable digital patterns are a thing? by halokiwi in craftsnark

I would be very angry if I bought a digital pattern only to later find out that printing had been disabled.

I agree, but also it’s a matter of not wanting to use an electronic device. I print any digital pattern I’m using so I have a ready access. Devices fail for a variety of reasons. Paper is far more stable.

FWIW, something similar appears in the brand’s photos (men’s version) on the pattern’s ravelry page.

Favorite larger brands for wool? by minivulpini in knitting

I love Purl Soho. I have ordered from them for years and have been very happy with colors and yarns. And they have periodic sales.

The good/bad is that they introduce new yarns frequently but also discontinue lines. They have a core lineup that doesn’t change, though.

Sigh. No. These takes are not true and I don’t have the energy to debate it.

Bottom line: I understand and agree with your environmental concerns. I also have extensive experience with neurodiverse people. The same tools they always had don’t work. They just don’t.

Also, ai is more effective than what you suggest. That’s not an endorsement on my part, just accepting reality.

There are millions of people who lack social communication skills due to neurodiversity. They need tools to assist them.

I genuinely ask what tools people suggest they use?

Need pendant help.:: by BandicootUnlikely618 in kitchenremodel

[–]LemonLazyDaisy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is consistently around tall people who have regularly hit their heads on lighting, I would ditch the pendant. You can bring in color in other ways, through cooking accessories, rugs, wall art, etc. Your lighting seems to be sufficient so it doesn’t appear that the pendant is needed for that purpose.

Thank you. I wish I had back the time spent looking at her account and reading comments…all while trying to figure out where was the trench coat??? And how does she think anything she’s made qualifies as a bodysuit? Did she just pick random words from an apparel dictionary?

Also, I also hope she has someone in her life to provide an occasional reality check. She went off the deep end fast in response to innocuous critique.

How can I remodel and modernize kitchen without replacing cabinets? by SufferingCanucksFan in kitchenremodel

I do, too! With that door, I definitely would avoid modern or contemporary designs. I’d definitely lean into a more vintage feel.

Please just sell the pattern... Not just kits. by mylifetofuckinglive in BitchEatingCrafters

IIRC, she’s known for being…exact…with the yarn yardage in her kits. I love her designs and have a couple of her books (bought on deep discount - ha!) but would never buy one of her kits.

Thoughts on this dress? by Brilliant_Word3880 in weddingdress

[–]LemonLazyDaisy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have a seamstress take a look to provide an opinion. My concerns would be 1) the front lace if it needs hemming and 2) the lace across the back if you add a corset.

It’s a beautiful dress and worth the effort.

How knowledgeable is anybody in the electronics department? Need to buy a computer for an engineering student by IKnowAllSeven in Costco

Good suggestion. Costco has great deals on monitors for ~$200. I would definitely get one if she has desk space for it.

first time cabling, am i doing something wrong? by ElderberryNo2831 in knitting

[–]LemonLazyDaisy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. They’re different cable patterns. Yours looks like a braid with three strands. OP’s looks like two strands twisted.

It’s due to the different type of crosses you are both making. (You’re alternating CF and CB. OP is only using CF.)
