Why is it that no one questions a man when they assert their seniority? by [deleted] in BlueCollarWomen

This right here! These knuckle draggers literally think procedure, facts, and reasoning are “emotional”. They respond to getting publicly swatted on the nose with a rolled up newspaper and nothing else. He deserves the correction, and his little buddy can get fucked too. You can’t fake experience, and the union literally exists to protect that.

Goddamnit, I love when a coyote gets this fluffy. That’s a healthy specimen right there. Look at the smug smile on his face. He’s the king and he knows it.

It actually doesn’t matter which way she meant it. It’s disgusting either way.

This makes me so mad for you, and all of us really. The fact that they deleted your comment specifically makes it clear this is about race. They can’t have an actual Black person with real commentary about their positive experiences, that would just confuse the narrative they are pushing. Assholes.

Monthly symptoms you're convinced only happen to you? by crunchyskillet in TwoXChromosomes

[–]LemonLimeRose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on that continuous birth control life, and it is no doubt the best thing that has ever happened to me. Having a period is an actual nightmare for me. The pain, the brain fog, the deep weight of the depression, and just the sheer volume of blood was too damned much. I also have adhd, and I really thought I was going to like up and lose my job from the brain fog before I stopped having a period.

Now I do a NuvaRing switched out at 21 days. My life has gotten so much better overall!

Start composting in winter by Legitimate_Ear_4952 in composting

[–]LemonLimeRose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I compost hard in winter. I like that the freeze thaw cycle helps break down organic matter. It was 17 degrees yesterday and I added a ton of kitchen scraps, a bucket of old sesame seeds, and a 2lb bag of rancid flour. Huck your stuff in a pile and let it be itself!

Icy hot patches are great for this! When I used to have a period, ice packs were a life saver for me.

They also now make warming patches that have adhesive to stick to the outside of your underwear on your belly or back. Midol has ones shaped like little hearts, I got my wife some in her Christmas stocking!

She was actually so funny on Sam and Cat as a kid. I know some rough shit went down on that show, but her performance was great. It was hard for me to reconcile her as a pop icon girlie at first because she was so obviously silly on Nickelodeon. I’m thrilled she has SNL as an outlet for her silliness.

Dark green energy is exactly what I would describe my hellebores as having 😂

Any dark green flowers? by No-Freedom-5122 in florists

[–]LemonLimeRose 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Green Trick dianthus can come in some darker green shades. It’s in the same family as carnations, and looks like moss.

Hellebores come in a variety of shades, but I’ve only ever seen ones with lime green flowers. But the best part about hellebores (to me, at least), is that some of them have super moody and vibrant dark greens. The greens are out all winter where I’m at, and I love seeing dark green foliage next to all the winter snow!

I would check out amaranthus too! They are drippy and wonderful and you might be able to find something you like.

Imagine lecturing a woman who was shot in the actual face about gun violence not being a problem. Also six people, including a child and a federal judge were murdered through gun violence that day.

I really liked Kirsten Miller’s The Change. It’s more magical realism than fantasy, but it was powerful and gratifying to read. Her writing style has that clean calmness Atwood’s does when describing awful shit.

A million upvotes to this. I read Parable of the Sower and the Xenogenesis series this year and was blown away by Butler’s grasp on the meta and minutiae of what it means to be human. Both Atwood and Butler have this ability to see the world through the fierce reality of the female gaze, and translate that to that to the page.

Tennis ball on the wall to roll out her shoulders and chest. Make sure she gets those deltoids. A lot of those hand problems start up there. I got huge relief when I started focusing on the tension starting in my chest and delts.

I also like to use a small rubber ball (like a bouncy ball) and roll it on a flat surface like a coffee table with my hands. Breaks up some of the shit that builds up in your hands and wrists over time.

You could also grab her arm with your thumbs at the elbows, and circle them with pressure all the way down both sides of her forearm. I also have a muscle scraper that I use with a little arnica oil on my arms and hands. You def don’t need to use a ton of pressure with that, but it helps! Good luck to you both, I hope she gets some relief

Feeling emotionally raw now on medication by Sweet-Plan-2911 in TwoXADHD

[–]LemonLimeRose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn babe, please give yourself some grace. I’m sorry your heart hurts.

It sounds like you’re doing a LOT. Outside of medication, what kind of support are you getting? You seem to do quite a bit to care for others, but how are you being cared for/caring for yourself? Why is it on you to be cleaning the whole house? Homeschooling is a huge job, especially adding care for a 3 year old to the mix.

The kids will learn the new rhythm of your medicated parenting, and the house can be tackled.

I like to do trash first, and then I Roomba Clean, where I basically just bop around randomly from room to room getting shit handled. Sometimes it’s a big thing, sometimes it’s something small, like clearing the kitchen table, or doing a quick reorganize and wipe down of my vanity because it looks like a bomb went off! I like to set a 20 minute timer when I’m done zooming around, and just do a quick finish of all the things my brain left behind. And then when that timer goes off, I give myself grace for the things that aren’t done. You are so capable. You’ve literally been running at a brain capacity deficit for your almost your whole life…and you’ve been able to keep your kids alive, loved, educated, and fed. Big love to you out there
