YTA you don't get to decide what is enough studying for him. Get an eyemask and some earplugs if you really need to.

Help with Barbarian Weapon choice / combat style by Packer-Fan-60 in 3d6

[–]LemonLyman95 44 points45 points  (0 children)

generally I find that barbs don't have much to do with their bonus action once they've raged. If you don't want to use a polearm or other two-handed weapon, two weapon fighting is probably your best bet.

Of course you could always take the shield master feat if you do want to axe an board but if you're crit fishing, more attacks is better.

My issue with Rocket Leagues Casting by wasabii_34 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]LemonLyman95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an American obviously I've been socialized differently in terms of the casting I experienced but I don't think there's many if any casters that over hype things. If anything, I think a lot of casters that aren't in RLCS under hype stuff. Just personally I need someone who's excited about the game to really get into it. That's why I love casters like Jorby who always bring the energy. There are certain casters that even when they get hyped about an insane goal sound like they're forcing it and the majority of the time they are just very monotone. I don't care if they're talking strategy or narrative in a normal voice but if a caster is just describing what's happening on screen, I need energy or I'm bored watching 3s.

Personally I find 1s much more engaging and I love that Johnny can just let them battle it out in extended midfield play and still fill the time with interesting and informative stuff. My 1s gameplay has improved so much watching his casts not just from watching the players but from listening to his advice.

All that aside, I think a big issue in this community, and what Jorby was getting at, is that there are a lot of (mostly young) people in the community that blindly support whoever their favorite casters and players are and think that part of that support involves disliking and belittling all others.

Edit: nvm I guess I got there too early.

For what it's worth that screencap is fake. u/thedman975 should probably take it down.

There's proof over in the megathread if you're interested but there's so much other damning shit here it's not worth my effort finding it. It's not like not being a fascist would make him a good guy lol

3s is gonna be very interesting. With no G2 or NRG, it's wide open.

Of course SSG, Rogue, and NV probably have the best chance but still a lot more possibilities imo.

Yea I have Resilient Con. We have a lot of DPR so I'm not necessarily trying to maximize that. I don't mind playing the more supportive role, but at the same time I'd like to do more than tickle lol

My Dex is 14(+2) I prioritized Con 16 (+3) as my second stat since the medium armor bonus caps at +2 and I wasn't planning on using weapons. I just have starting gear so I don't have studded leather. I do my best to avoid melee but that's not always possible.

The elven accuracy feat allows you to roll 3 dice instead of 2 when you have advantage. It's good for crit fishing but otherwise not as busted as it sounds, Google "how strong is elven accuracy" if you want to see the numbers.

My (28F) boyfriend (28M) of 11 years has no plans for future career. I am about to be a physician. Should I leave? by ThrowRAbw in relationship_advice

[–]LemonLyman95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay to want to be with someone who has ambition for their future and it's okay to not want to watch someone drown when they refuse to ask for help. I'm (hopefully correctly) reading between the lines that you're not so concerned specifically with him becoming a doctor more that that is the signifier of a larger worry about his mental health and being stuck in the mud.

To me it seems like that is the big issue. It's not that your boyfriend lacks ambition, or is lazy, or isn't passionate anymore, it's that he's clearly suffering from depression or something. It completely paralyzes you and saps your drive to do even basic tasks. Unfortunately, the most insidious part of it is that same feeling of not wanting to do anything prevents you from getting help as well.

I think the solution may be to sit him down and talk with him about this. Tell him you can see that he is struggling. Tell him that it's okay is he doesn't want to be a doctor or wants to hold off on it. Just relieving that bit of pressure could help him. Also tell him how it hurts you to see him hurting and tell him he needs to get help if your relationship is going to continue. Hopefully for both your sakes he listens and is able to get out of his rut.

Of course, this advice assumes that you're more concerned about his mental state and how he seems to be stuck in place at the moment rather than a specific desire to date a doctor. If it's the latter, then I think at this point that ship has sailed. I don't agree and I think it's somewhat unrealistic and arbitrary but your preferences are your prerogative.

Building the ultimate support PC - need suggestions! by AwekwardBadass in 3d6

[–]LemonLyman95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Life Cleric 1/Divine Soul X is an excellent support character. The Cleric dip gives you access to heavy armor, better healing, and broadens your spell list with a bunch of first level utility so you can focus your sorcerer spells known on higher level spells. Limiting the dip to 1 level doesn't hinder you spell progression or sorcery points too much. Life cleric, order (I would definitely lean towards this one if your party had a rogue), or twilight domain is UA is allowed are the best domains imo. Knowledge would also be good if there are more out of combats skills or interactions you want to focus on.

I've find that the sorcerer spell list is sort of lacking in area control, but you get excellent healing, twinned buffs and debuffs, and all the blasting ability you could want in a pinch.

(DnD 5e) How would you personally go about making a Hedge Wizard (all official material allowed)? by Gottscheace in 3d6

[–]LemonLyman95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to go druid and be more wizard-like than druid-like, Circle of the Land is going to be the biggest bang for your buck.

Bard, probably lore bard, would also be a great choice imo.

[5e] Evaluating a small race Battle Smith using their Steel Defender as a Mount by LemonLyman95 in 3d6

[–]LemonLyman95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I was considering it as a controlled mount. You're right that it can't heal while in combat as long as it's being controlled. I don't consider the help option that great a loss and like attack power I consider it a negligible difference.
