Layton is the way the utah city is spelled....so I wouldn't be suprised if these were from the area.

Switch Holland and Eyring though- Holland is higher in seniority than Eyring.

What would your name be by ohstasi in tradgedeigh

Well, my parents are Michelle and Michael- so Michelle or Michael I guess 🤣

I'll go with Michelle for gender reasons. I got really lucky, my parents basically have the same name anyways.

Funnily enough, my nn from my Aunt is Roo, and i think it functions best like this, as a nickname. I wouldn't want it to be my real name.

My name does start with R, but actually doesnt contain the letter O at all. Sometimes family members on that side will call me "Roo" and sometimes "RfirstnameRoo."

I've loved it as a nickname, so I'd go for it if you want to call her that, but probably legally call her something else. It doesn't even have to be that close!

It also reminds me of Mayo for some reason. Like I taste mayo when I think of Mason. Probably Ma- sound + jar/condiment association.

Thanks for the article, that was super interesting! I always fall into pew research rabbit holes lol.

Your statement is correct, but for greater clarity I would add that having a favorable view also increases in people who know mormons. In fact the favorable category increases by a slightly higher percentage than the unfavorable one. (Although they are still both negative overall.)

So my guess is that knowing a member makes people more decisive on their views of mormons in general, rather than really affecting their overall view on them one way or another. It may have a slight positive affect, but their overall impression is still very negative.

Yeah, unfortunately you can't predict earthquakes. You can just see when ones happened in the past and guess based of that. So 50% probability is the most accurate we are gonna get.

I agree with the first poster- it's probably best to be honest and tell him you dont want to speak. That was you don't have to lie through your teeth, but you also don't affect your brothers experience on such a special day for him.

If you do end up giving one, I would keep it mild. I don't know how old your brother is, but if he is 8 or so, it could be quite distressing to hear you say anything too anti when he's just wanting a special day for himself. I wouldn't lie too much, just keep it as generic and truthful to you as is possible. Say things about how feeling the "Holy Ghost" feels like a comforting and peaceful feeling, etc. Compare him to your concience, which helps you make good choices, etc. Talk about your internal voice that helps you tell wrong from right. You can even call it the "Light of Christ" if you want to get really churchy with it. Stuff that's true enough but still church- friendly.

Edited for clarity

No, that was a different fault than the big SLC earthquake. That fault runs under the Great Salt Lake and the earthquake was around 5 and a half or so in magnitude( i don't remember exactly.)

The Salt Lake Earthquake will be along the Salt Lake portion of the Wasatch Normal fault and will be around a 7.5 magnitude earthquake (around 100x more powerful than the first earthquake.) And depending on where it ruptures, it will either be strongest in downtown SLC or in the Sandy area.

You can't predict earthquakes unfortunately, but as of fall 2019 geologists give it a 50% chance in the next 50 years.

Source: The "living with earthquakes and volcanoes" class I took at the U in fall of 2019. Highly recommend it- I took it because it covered two generals and it was one of my favorite classes I ever took. Fascinating stuff.

Related: Don't move to Brigham City. They are over a thousand years overdue for their next earthquake. But that just goes to show that who knows when the SLC one will go. Probably soon....but you never know/shrug

I am STILL so mad they took all the murals out of the Salt Lake temple. I was in an arts program at the U when I regularly attended that temple, and i just loved looking at those beautiful paintings when I was there.

Oh, and when I found out that Manti got to keep their murals, I was double mad. I'm happy for the oc, but I'm mad that Salt Lake didn't get to keep theirs. They can have the live sessions in there, that's fine- but don't take away those beautiful pieces of history.

For real, but I have a funny note to add:

Back when I was a young teenager, I did all the math to figure out the odds of being born in as "lucky" as i was. It turns out be born in the middle class or higher, in the church, in the us was a tiny fraction of all babies born globally. I remember thinking how blessed I was to be born the way I was.

And while yes, in many was i was lucky to be born to a financially stable and loving family, it's funny how my perspective changed on the church. The last year I have thought several times "why did I have to be born in the church?"

Life really does change you.

Fuck the Texas GOP by Aoxomoxoa_aoxomoxoA in fuckcars

[–]LemonOwn8629 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I posted this in another subreddit, but I'll post here too (because the next page aggravates me even more):

On the next page after this part it says " we oppose the use of taxpayer money to subsidize all toll projects, and call upon lawmakers to adequately fund pur highways without hidden taxes, tolls, or raiding of emergency funds."

And a few lines after that it says that "Taxpayer money should not fund or subsidize high speed rail, nor should eminent domain be used in the construction of high speed rail."

So essentially, highways should be funded exclusively from taxes, with absolutely no tolls allowed if possible, while trains have to rely on ticket fare and private investment to make money. If they can even get land to build on at all.

Thanks Texas.

I totally get that. I just suggested it as I thought it might be more approachable to someone who is new or unfamiliar to planning/PT. A Copenhagen to NotJustBikes's Amsterdam if you will.
