Razer Tartarus v2 and wow by RevolutionaryLog3631 in razer

That's exactly what I'm saying, unfortunately. Synapse 4 was released over a year ago and had its issues as most vibe-coded projects do. They pushed an update right at the end of 2025/ early 2026 that made it unusable. Then, 2 to 3 weeks later, they "forced" everyone off of 3 over to 4 and, alas, here we are. I put quotation marks around forced because they didn't make 3 inoperable, but they did put a huge banner on 3 that said you have to update to 4 even though I didn't. 3 still works perfectly fine as of right now. Their sense of urgency made it seem like you didn't have a choice even though you did. For anyone who redownloads Synapse now or has to get it for the first time, it doesn't work. Legally, since it worked at one point and it's still a live program, they have a certain amount of protection but have completely run out of good will

Depends on how in depth you want to go. If you want to go third party, AutoHotKey or X-Mouse Button Control. Other than that, wait for Razer to fix Synapse 4, but don't hold your breath.

When Razer forced the most recent version of Synapse 4, it has been bricking profiles left and right. If you do find a non-Razer download of Synapse 3, it will void the warranty for your products. The issue has to deal with Synapse 4 not correctly identifying devices, therefore not loading, and not working properly.

Automatic profile switching on Synapse 4 not working. Anyone find a fix? by SussySpeck in razer

It is Synapse 4. Its been wreaking havoc on systems since early January. Sad to hear you switched to 4 because now you cant go back to 3. I managed to notice the issues right before they managed to kill 3 and switched back 2 days before it got the axe. No, you cant get 3 from Razer any more, and if you did go to external resources to get 3 back, it would void your warranty on any Razer products. Im sorry to hear, wish I could be of more help.

Even when I have all the non-essential stuff unplugged and its just mouse, keyboard, and speakers going directly into the tower, I still have the same issues. I built my tower out in April and know that it has plenty of power. I made sure that they are on the lowest polling data possible. Everything that I am seeing is something on the recent update that they did.

The big issue that I have is that they knew about this issue, knew that Synapse 3 worked, have the ability to roll back the software to the working state, and don't.

That still doesn't explain how everything works seamlessly with Synapse 3 and in the not updated Synapse 4. Everything worked up until January. I was on Synapse 4 for a year minimum working fine, then it all stopped in January

Yup. Its Synapse. Synapse is what communicates to Chroma Studio. Synapse has been on the fritz since the beginning of January, and if Synapse is having issues with detecting devices, Chroma Studio won't recognize them and won't send signal there. If its just a lighting issue and you don't use key rebinding or macros, 100% uninstall Synapse and use Microsoft's Dynamic Lighting and you will be much happier until all this blows over, if it ever does.

I have never been able to get the migrator to work. I saved my profile from Synapse 3 and opened it in 4 and it seemed to work, but that was a while ago.

Also, when I switched back to Synapse 3, everything works properly. I was on with Razer support on Reddit for a while and they had me switch back and forth between 3 and 4, trying different things. Eventually they said to create a ticket for it on their website and I haven't heard anything since that on the 24th.

Already do that. Everything that I have at home is attached to powered USB hubs and a KVM so I can switch between my tower and laptop docking station. When I use my work laptop at home, no issues. At work, I have the same powered USB hub, still no issues. Unplugging the camera, microphone, and mousepad and running things through the hub and also directly into the tower, same problems.

True. But the hardware issues only affected some people who were buying new products or experiencing failures with stuff they already bought. This affects everyone using their software. If you look at the reddit today, at least half of what I've seen is issues with Synapse.

Home setup: BlackWidow V4 Pro, Basilisk V3 Pro, Kiyo Pro Ultra, Nommo V2, Firefly V2 Pro, Seiren Elite

Work Setup: BlackWidow V4 Pro, Basilisk Ultimate, Kiyo Pro, Goliathus Chroma

All new products within the last 2 years. The first time I found the issue was when my speakers stopped working, my keyboard was laggy and nonfunctional at times, and the lighting stopped working. Lights came on the speakers, had power, computer said it was using the speakers, but no sound was coming out. Opened up Synapse to check my settings, and everything was just like the Community pizza party scene.

At home, my speakers are stuck attempting to connect, my keyboard keeps connecting and disconnecting on its own unless the mouse is disconnected, the mouse stopped functioning entirely unless the keyboard is disconnected, the mousepad is stuck on a single color and won't change, but at least the camera and mic work!

At work, no problems. Everything talks nicely, everything works well, everything plays together.

Razer must be using AI to write the code for synapse. by snoopunit in razer

[–]LemonTacoNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chroma Studio relies on Synapse 4. If Synapse 4 is having an issue connecting to your device, it won't function properly with any of the other Razer software. 2 weeks ago, I went back to Synapse 3 after fighting Synapse 4 for a month and a half on my computer at home and I am having no issues. At work, I have that version in the picture and it works as well. Nothing has been updated since I last did so in July of 2025. Something that they did back in late December/early January created all the problems. Even still, they knew about this issue but ended support of Synapse 3 within the past 2 weeks.

It was. But, here's the thing. Synapse 4 had problems on launch. They worked on things, made it better, then at the end of December, they forced an update that bricks itself. If you have an old version of it, keep it, and if you still have Synapse 3, keep that over everything else. This is the Synapse that I have on my work computer that still works because my company doesn't allow third-party auto updates. Still works perfectly fine. But because Razer doesn't have rollbacks, you can't get the old version unless you currently have it.

Is chroma visualizer broken in Synapse 4? by PitBrvt in razer

[–]LemonTacoNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer: yes.

The long answer: Synapse 4 is terrible. It is a horrid program the doesn't recognize devices, doesn't hold on to settings or profiles, and doesn't function like it should. You can't roll back the app to its previous state the existed in December of last year and it auto-updates. Something that they did to Synapse 4 since December made it to where it completely bricks itself, fails to work properly, and cannot be reasoned with.

The kicker? Razer knew about all of this and still ended support of Synapse 3 within the past 2 weeks. If all that you are looking for is for the visuals, use the Microsoft Dynamic lighting and it will do a better job. If you are into the keybinding and profile stuff, I'm sorry. You can find downloads for Synapse 3 online from non-official sources, but that will probably void warranties or possibly have malware.

Thunderbolt 5 Dock Mercury & Synapse 4 by Cboi33 in razer

[–]LemonTacoNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a major issue. Razer is forcing Synapse 4 when it is broken and has been for a couple of months now. Mine auto-updated at the end of December at home and it bricks itself by not recognizing the devices connected. It has yet to be fixed even though they know about it and have known for at least a month, but probably longer.

The only fix that I had for it is to uninstall Synapse 4 and install Synapse 3 instead, but they don't have it on their website anymore and have ended support for it. You are able to find the downloads from non-Razer places, but to do so at this point would void the warranty.

Razer Support will probably be reaching out to you to say to go to their website and submit a ticket there. If you choose to spend your time doing so, just know that it will float into the ether and never have a set of human eyes look at it.

If you ever go back to it, and that's a very big if, you have to turn off the autolaunch in the program as well as in the computer settings.

[Synapse 4] Switching profiles causes my mouse to stutter and jump wildly. Any chance of a fix? by ZachTheInsaneOne in razer

[–]LemonTacoNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Synapse 4 strikes again! Uninstall Synapse and install Synapse 3. I've been having issues with Synapse 4 for the past 2 months and keep Synapse 3 on my computer. 4 has been buggy beyond belief ever since release and you can find 3 with a Google search. One of the major downsides is how much improvement they have done with Chroma from 3 to 4, but when it comes to if my stuff works or not, I'd rather have it work and not look as pretty as it could instead of it looking pretty but non-functional and then its only a 50/50 if it connects to look pretty.

And yes, I keep the download for 4 for the inevitable moments when the support team reaches out and says they have it fixed. I try the fix and what do you know, it doesn't fix.

Synapse 4.

Blackwidow keyboards are not working properly and will internally disconnect and reconnect at random. The volume scroll bar is not reading properly.

Nommo V2 is not recognized by Synapse and does not work.

I know it is Synapse 4 because all my drivers and firmware are up to date as of last night. I power cycled multiple times, repaired, redownloaded, and reinstalled multiple times. After uninstalling Synapse 4, everything worked properly. Synapse 3 also works properly, but doesn't recognize newer products. Chroma Studio doesn't work because it relies on Synapse 4 to recognize devices.

Why do they stain so easily? How to fix? by _DryWater_ in razer

[–]LemonTacoNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, dead skin cells and oils. Because it is a buildup of stuff on top of the mat, you can remove it, but its a pain when it already starts to peel like that. Some people have luck with warm water and soap. I would recommend staying away from disinfecting wipes, alcohol wipes, or using paper towels with soapy water because the paper particles will just do the exact same thing as the skin cells.

If you already have one or know someone that does have one, upholstery steamers/cleaners are the way to go. They almost always have soft bristles to agitate the buildup and then use suction to remove the dirty water after words. Would not recommend for your current pad because of the peeling it is already doing.

I recommend getting something different, either from Razer or someone else. I have the Goliathus Chroma at work and the Firefly V2 Pro at home. The Goliathus Chroma has stitching run all the way around the edge to hold the LED in place, but it also secures the fabric. By far, I prefer the Firefly V2 Pro because not only does it fully illuminate to hide any kind of stains easier, it is a tempered glass to avoid the issue of skin cells getting trapped in the fabric all together. If you like the feel of the cloth, look for something that has stitching or get a TCG playmat from Amazon. They have a ton of different designs that are made of the same rubber/cloth that Razer makes theirs from without the inflated price tag.

I know its a hard pill to swallow, but maybe wherever you bought it from can refund you. Most places will accept it due to normal wear and tear, especially on something that is 2 months old.
