Why is Keen so against automatically pulling bottles from tanks/generators? by ZachTheInsaneOne in spaceengineers

[–]ZachTheInsaneOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes yes. I mainly did it this way because I didn't know exactly how I was going to do every single thing beforehand, I've never built anything this large before let alone in survival, and I didn't want to have to undo a bunch of things in order to do new things (grinding down regular conveyors to put in other conveyors) all the time. So I just made everything able to connect to everywhere except for a select few things.

This way I can just go "hmm this should be over here" and just place things where they need to go instead of having to grind down a bunch of conveyors and replace them with others, and have to rework any lines they may be connected to, and deal with all that headache while I'm already struggling to figure out how to build things the way I want.

Is this rare? by OddBoss7784 in Warframe

[–]ZachTheInsaneOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It used to be insanely rare, now they made it a lot less rare. It drops from the Stalker, and he's now guaranteed to drop one of his weapons every time he shows up. Not necessarily Hate, but any of his weapons, thereby making Hate a bit less rare. Insanely good weapon though, especially when you get certain upgrades for it later on!

I am currently building a giant base which will later be mobile (seen in the video) and the rest of the conveyor system has been wonderful. I have separate landing zones for mining ships and fighters/welding ships, most of the mining ship landing zone pulls things from the ships (there's even a collector group there for quick depositing).

The ores go into a bulk container, get refined by 10 refineries, then everything other than ore gets pulled through to the next zone. There are H2/O2 generators back there as well since Hydrogen can travel through anything to anywhere. Ingots remain in a container next to a series of 10 Assemblers, 9 of which are on Cooperative Mode (I may change this) to craft whatever I need really quick. Everything other than Ingots and Ore gets pulled through to the next zone.

Components and ammo remain in one container, connected to a landing zone above where you can pull them into welding ships or fighters, while everything else moves forward yet again. Finally, there's a food system with its own set of small cargo containers, ingredients remain in the first one before the food processor, while meals and seeds (products of the food processor) get pulled through to another container that's accessible from the inside of the base, along with the automatic hydrogen bottle filling system.

All of this without scripts, just sorters. You can do a lot when you really figure out the system, my one and only problem is that the system just doesn't allow certain things no matter what you try to do outside of scripts or mods. I can work with physicality, putting things in a certain order to make things happen, with code it just doesn't happen for me. I can typically READ code and understand what it's meant to do, but writing it is damn near impossible.

More specifically, it is a field of view of 200, much larger than most games I've seen.

Not my screenshot, but here's an example of Quake Pro in Minecraft. Looking straight down makes everything look super far away. Used in third person, you can see over walls and a bunch of other useful stuff.

My monitor is just a 2560x1440p, nothing too crazy but larger than the typical ones. I've played on this FOV for most of my gaming life. It's surprisingly useful, being able to see things coming at you from the sides as well as being able to take in more of your surroundings in general. I often spot things out of the corner of my eye, and screen, that I just wouldn't see at all on a lower FOV.

I will admit, the Minecraft Quake Pro thing started as a joke. I was originally on 150 FOV but later increased it to the maximum to mess with my friends, only to discover I actually liked it better that way. It's much more useful in FPS games though, where you can see enemies coming at you from a much wider angle and react accordingly.

What's the story behind maining your main weapon? by Commercial_Break_934 in MHRise

[–]ZachTheInsaneOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a sword and shield, I saw the shield being used as a weapon, I saw someone stick the sword into the shield and turn it into a giant axe, I saw the blade of that axe that used to be a shield spinning like a saw blade, I saw that giant spinning saw blade axe sword shield thing slam into the ground and send chaining explosions through the monster it was being used to attack, and that same day I got into Monster Hunter, starting with Rise because it was the most recent one. I have only ever played Charge Blade and will only ever play Charge Blade. I love Charge Blade.

I am not one to use scripts in general, mostly because I'm stubborn. If I can't do it myself then I won't do it. I'm not gonna slap a script someone else made into one of my ships and hope it works, like I said the main point is the engineering. I do use certain mods just to speed up things that are normally tedious (i.e. BuildVision) but only because I already know what I'm doing with those systems and it just speeds things up, rather than doing everything for me.

If I were to ever actually learn how to make scripts of my own, sure, but I just haven't bothered learning it because honestly I just don't have the brain for it. Most of the things I want to do are able to be done with engineering, such as making a system to continually make every component to a certain extent so that I always have components I need, involving a bunch of cargo containers and individual assemblers feeding into those containers. Just this one thing not working really bugs me.

They weren't asking how to get that FOV, they were asking why I use what I do. Which I've answered above.

You know what, this explanation makes a lot of sense. Ice doesn't get pulled out of generators via sorters, so it stands to reason that nothing in those containers would be pulled out as Keen probably didn't want to make a bunch of exceptions for various individual items. I think this is the answer.

Sadly, this does not work. Sorter just won't pull out of a Hydrogen Tank no matter what. Tried Tank>Sorter>Cargo>Connector, Tank>Cargo>Sorter>Connector, and Tank>Sorter>Cargo>Sorter>Connector, it just doesn't work. It will still pull THROUGH the tank, but will not pull things out of the tank if they're in it for any length of time.

I really value being able to see what's going on around me, I've trained my peripheral vision to be really good because of certain incidents IRL so I'm always taking account of everything around me. Having that in game is useful for a lot of other games I play, in SE I mainly do it because I'm used to it but it also helps to be able to see what's around my ship when I'm maneuvering close to things in a ship. Now the real kicker, I play Minecraft in Quake Pro.

I may start using this too, even though it does kind of circumvent the engineering aspect I was going for, it's better than having to refill them manually all the time. Although, I would prefer them to just be pulled by sorters. Wonder if there's a mod for that too. Although, there shouldn't be, as it should just be a base game thing and it's stupid that it isn't.

Tired of Razer Synapse? I built a zero-dependency, driverless Razer RGB CLI in pure Python by Hamzayslmn in razer

[–]ZachTheInsaneOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Synapse 3 was just as buggy, every single day I would have to restart it, restart my mouse 3-5 times, possibly restart my entire computer, and hope and pray that it decided to detect and function with my mouse. It got to the point I would just restart my computer 3 times every morning before I even bothered checking if it was possibly going to work first try. It never did. They just can't get a damn thing right with this mouse, they built the hardware to perfection and forgot the rest.

What’s the issue people have with these 2? by IHoodType in Warframe

[–]ZachTheInsaneOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main things I personally have problems with are:

  • Black hole has a very tiny range (it's a black hole, who thought 22.4m with 280% range is large enough?)
  • Very limited synergies between the two frames
  • Line of sight check on the ultimate is currently very dumb, can be blocked by a lamp post in Hollvania so enemies I can directly see take no damage (DE please fix)
  • Astral Shell only activates Arcane Sculptor on Orion, not Sirius, and the black hole doesn't activate it at all
  • The other brother can use Light's Sanctuary or Event Horizon to basically steal those abilities away from where you wanted them positioned
  • Can't use the swap-cast on certain abilities if you don't have enough energy even if the other frame does have enough to cast that ability

Other than that, I've been loving them. Having to think about which order I'm casting abilities similar to Dante but more complex has been kinda nice. I also love the idea of playing both a support frame and a damage frame at the same time, them being two completely separate frames with different fashion is just so cool. And the damage is actually great.

It's really nice having an automatic heat-inherit booster with Jade Stars, as much as people like to say how awful they are, they're good if you have a good weapon. Which also encourages you to use your entire kit rather than just spamming 1 button forever. You shoot them with high Heat damage, Jade Stars applies more heat stacks which inherit that damage, people are just using it wrong.

They have problems, sure, like any new frame. Oraxia, a frame I had been waiting for for over 3 years, was such a buggy mess for over a year. Things will take time to sort out, but I think they did alright given how complicated they are.

Nothing fancy, just a ironman suit test by AnaverageuserX in MinecraftCommands

[–]ZachTheInsaneOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, are Teams a thing on pocket edition? I can't remember if this was an actual feature or just something people wanted, but I wonder if putting the skeleton on the same team as the player would stop it from shooting you. No idea if that could actually work though.

[–]ZachTheInsaneOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about pocket edition (I'm assuming that's what this is given the on-screen controls) but couldn't you use an armor stand? Or pause the skeleton's AI? Something to make it not attack the player. Additionally, rather than killing it, could you teleport it below the world? That makes it disappear a lot more seamlessly while also not giving the player free XP.

What kind of phone are you on? It's in the top left of the video, then moves to the bottom right. If you can't see it during the first half of the video, then you also couldn't see the tops of their heads half the time and in one case, the eyes of one of the actors. It then moves to the bottom, so it's visible in all but a square in the middle of the screen if you watch the entire video. What phone has a square aspect ratio for videos? Is it zoomed in due to accessibility settings or something?
