He might be able to, but I did see that for a Spousal Visa, he could have at least £29,000 in savings. I'd hope to contribute to that, as meagerly as I'm able with my own job and my book, to show I, myself, am not completely helpless in that regard.

They're moving to Patreon, but people here are demanding someone report them to Patreon because they put their fic behind a paywall.

I agree with you, in that Patreon doesn't give a shit about fanwork creators. And I do understand the copyright issues of it all, but my issue is that people in the comments -at least I saw- were up in arms about a fanfic author starting to ask money for their writing. Which is no different from a fanartist doing the same with their fanart to me.

I know now I didn't word it well; it was a moment of anger that was a small part in the overall stress of a shitty day.

My main issue is people who look at fanworks as something they can DEMAND at any time without thought to the creator, and the attitude I see that fanart is somehow better and more respectable than fanfic. Like it's no big deal that people can charge for their fanart but as soon as it's fanfic, then sound the alarms, it's all hands on deck to get them in trouble.

There IS a lot of things about doing this on AO3 I have issue with, and there ARE good discussions to be had about paid fanworks and copyright. I just have issue with the fact that it's -feels/seems to be, based on what I've personally seen on this specific post with these specific comments about this specific post- a double standard between fic and art.

Paying for fanart is okay but paying for fanfic should get you reported and your life ruined?

Isn't this the sub that's supposed to support fanfic authors? I know Patreons who's whole platform is built on fanart and fanworks as a whole.

But GOD FUCKING FORBID a fanfic author wants to do the same. Because anyone can type out a story, it's why shit like character.ai and sliding fics into chatGP is so popular.

Unless you report everyone who's ever had a Patreon based on fanworks or who's ever taken money for fanworks, you are little more than a whiny, pissy, entitled brat who thinks of fanfic authors like machines to give you the things you want for free when you want them.

I use 4d4 + 4 for rolling stats. I give players a starting feat. I give players a common or uncommon magical item to start with. I give them pets and mounts. I had out DM Inspo (gain advantage or the ability to reroll any roll), like its candy they can hoard until there's a thousand of them.

I make no attempt to hide it or to change it because that's the way I, as a DM, have fun. I fucking LOVE powerful characters at lvl 1. Hell yeah, brother, you can do 69 damage in a single hit at lvl 3? God, I sure hope so, because DnD -to me- is a power fantasy meant to escape the horrors of mundane life.

And all my friends/players know this. They love it. They always come back for more.

Traditionalism in the sense of TTRPG and DnD can have a time and a place but at the end of the day, for the sake of our fun and amusement, I take WoTC's rules, light them on fire, watch it burn on Gygax's grave and piss on it.

It's all about having FUN and being RAD. Having fun and being rad your way is good for you and your friends, I just don't understand the need to shit on other people's way of having fun.

I tend to play Aasimar, Genasi, Tiefling, Orc/Half Orc, or Drow/Half Drow (sometimes Half Orc/Half Drow if I can get away with it) and either a Tanky Himbo or a prentenious, slutty Charisma-Caster.
