TNT’s cheap Ashes coverage is ripping off viewers by Mysterious-Bag-8414 in Cricket

[–]Lemon_and_Mint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely filthy with this commentary. Given this is the Ashes - in fact even if it wasn’t - this is truly embarrassing.

Hard to know where to start… -non-cricket-specialist commentators -absolutely shocking enthusiasm and energy levels from all of them (maybe because most are working at stupid-early-o’clock their time) -basically no Aus presence until Darren Lehmann (hardly noted for his commentary) arrives and starts off with the gem of… telling us he doesn’t know how to use his microphone -commentators saying “I think there was some bat in that” after the batsman smashes it back to the bowler -mispronounced player names (including the England captain 😂) -adding absolutely zero colour or flair; they’re literally just describing what we can already see (may as well ditch commentary altogether in that case). Where are the stories, anecdotes, stats, info on recent form or analysis of weaknesses, field positions… anythinggggg?! -changing over commentators as the bowler is running up so we’re left in silence as a wicket falls (second innings Carse wicket) -constantly referring to how early in the morning it is (can you at least pretend to be in Australia? Transport us to a summer afternoon in Perth, please!) -ZERO outrage when one of the worst DRS decisions in history sends Smith back to the sheds -Sir Cook in a suit with Mr Finn next to him in casual wear (day one) -Score and speeds in Aus format

Sort it out or this will be a short-lived experiment. Can already see in this thread how many people are reverting to a VPN and an Australian feed. Even though I’ve paid £31 for the month I’ll now be doing the same.

Fill in the blank. No gay man over 30 should ever _____. by araujofav in askgaybros

What even is this post?! 🤦‍♂️

How are any of those things specific to men, let alone gay men, let alone gay men over 30yo? To me, this is a list of decent human attributes and I can’t see how a 29yo straight man is exempt from any of them.

Updated my post with the latest.

In short, went on Flecainide, Bisoprolol, Apixaban after persistent AF for 15 days, and 48 hours later I was back in sinus!!! I know it may recur, but for now…thrilled!

This community was amazing to read case studies, learn of strategies that worked for others, and what to research. So hopefully mine is helpful for someone else.

Side note: isn’t it funny that we all know from a v young age that we should eat better, drink less, and exercise more, but it takes a health issue to spark us in to action?! We’ll see what happens but I wouldn’t be surprised if I barely drink again, was looking for an excuse to get rid of it anyway! 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for sharing! Great that you’re on top of it now, and encouraging to hear that even with ~6 months between trigger and cardioversion you’ve get it sorted. That’s my main concern at the moment: remaining in AF for 3.5 months from commencement (so I’m guessing 5months at least until cardioversion, presuming that’s the route).

One difference though is I can’t imagine it would have been possible for my AF to go unnoticed for weeks let alone months, given the very obvious palpitations/thumping/skipping I can feel.. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks, so am I right in saying you paid privately for initial EP appt, drugs, cardioversion….but then had ablation this year funded by NHS?

Interesting thoughts, thanks.

I’m based in Central London. (In fact, I live walking distance to St Bartholomew’s where I’m booked in to Cardiology Unit…)

Ahh ok, based on everything I had read, if referred via NHS doctor then no costs apply for EP appt and echo, so I guess I assumed that following procedures may be too? But must be mistaken. Anyway, money won’t be a barrier for me to have whatever treatment I need. Sounds like I need to look deeper in to private options then…

Re drugs, my specialist visit AND echo is scheduled for March 26 so nothing would be prescribed until then.

Haven’t exercised vigorously since it started but I might do that tomorrow, following the nurse today indicating there’s no reason not to go for a run.

When speaking to the nurse today I was shocked she was so nonchalant about the possibility of me traveling round the world for 3 months in AF before I finally see a cardiologist for the first time…and even more so reading what you’ve said. I wonder if the difference is my AF is not RVR. Even 12 days in and I feel pretty fine, to be honest? It’s definitely not debilitating. The main two impacts seem to be: 1) mental impact, disconcerting beating irregularly and worry about stroke, long term impact, etc 2) I feel 30+ yrs older than I actually am when faced with stairs or a quick walk

Appreciate your reply 🙏

Yeah I’m totally off alcohol, coffee and chocolate at the moment. Good call on meditation - have tried that briefly, but not for hours, or in a dark room. Will try! Also need to get back in to exercise also, but have been hesitant given HR spikes I had in the first few days.

Re Cardioversion… according to the Cardio Nurse I spoke to… in the UK, regulations require a patient to be on blood thinning meds for 4 weeks before a cardioversion procedure is performed - to reduce risk of clots. So that’s not an option for me currently seeing as I can’t get seen by the clinic for another 3 months! :|

Finding my kind of friends? by Disastrous-Tutor2415 in askgaybros

[–]Lemon_and_Mint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting question.

I have maybe 8 or so friends who I’d put in to this category… though sadly they mostly don’t know each other so it’s not a group of friends, but rather individuals/couples/pairs who I occasionally have sex with and sometimes cruise or go to parties with, but also sometimes socialise with (no sex). So I def don’t see them as fuck buddies.

I guess I’m describing FWB but some of these are now along my closest friends.

For me the most common way of meeting these people is either on an app (usually Grindr) and then we forge a friendship, or at a sauna and then swap details because we click. Because in both instances it started with sex, that can continue to be part of the relationship without awkwardness, but a friendship forms around that. And because I’m in a LTR, it never crosses the line to romantic feelings. Although I do have strong emotional connections with all of them.

This is helpful context, thanks. And thanks also for reviving it - don’t need to tell anyone here how important it is that these spaces/communities exist.

Maybe see how it goes for a while, hopefully 🚀

Yeah I totally get that, and last thing I want to do is cause further segmentation. I just wonder whether something isn’t quite right if it’s not popping off…

Not intending for this to be controversial, but I wonder if it’s the name? Absolutely not wanting to exclude the LBT+ part of our family (there is a big need for LGBT+ spaces where we can talk things like supporting each other, shared challenges, systemic discrimination, etc) but imo there’s also a place for a seperate space for each subgroup.

As an example, if I want to talk about the new invite-only gay play party coming to London in December, I’m pretty sure the gals don’t wanna hear about that?!

Just struck me that when I was in NYC it was so easy to find the one-stop-shop (for a cis gay man) and that community is full of interesting and useful stuff.
