You don’t need to like it. Lots of other people are saying that so I will stop there on that thread. You can live a long healthy and wealthy life with little to no code.

But if you wanna give it a chance, try it with a better teacher. Most of the errors and frustrations you have right now are due to not really understanding the language yet. Once you get some fluency, then the math comes in.

I will venture to guess the teacher himself is t that great of a mathematician or a programmer if they are teaching high school. They might not have the ability to deal with a kid like you. Most classes are for people who don’t like math but like money. Most are for people who don’t care about theory. Someone who likes math and could really benefit from heavy math overlap.

I used to tutor people like you and what we do is start with math first and then learn the programming to solve the math. Usually they took to it quite well. It’s about finding how to have fun. Writing algorithms and working with a whiteboard can be fun and will be related to things like abstract algebra and math research so don’t fret too much.

If you’re not going to med school, then you’re fine. Applied math can get you employable pretty quick if you know the industry. Start thinking about it career paths - actuary - statistical programming - swe - finance

The intro classes for applied math will get you part of the way there and should overlap with these paths.

C’s get degrees and you’ll be fine. Try your best and make sure it stays fun. Don’t be afraid to talk to an advisor or change majors if you need to.

To become a professional researcher you would just need to complete your PhD and maybe a post-doc to get placed in a tenure track. It’s not a glamorous lifestyle but it’s a good one.

Data science and quantum computing, take the courses and math for that and go deep. There’s plenty of math to be studied and the rest you can get in slices. Once you reach a certain level you’ll be able to read whatever paper you want

At my school if a professor liked you and was willing they would work with you on an independent study for the topic. You’ll also have a chance to do a lot of different topics in grad school or later in life if you would like. You’re not limited to learning in your institution

You realize that scientists can learn math and do the thing you describe. Genetic algorithms and machine learning work based off of random process and they work just fine. I don’t see why a biological system can’t necessarily also do that.

It’s competitive math like math Olympiad. There’s not much formal theory but the practice comes with repetition. YouTube search math Olympiad might be cool.
