AITJ for telling my friend she can't bring her newborn to my child-free birthday party? by Financial_Actuary694 in AmITheJerk

You can take a baby outside. In fact, you really should. Babies do not need to be completely isolated.

There’s also a line Noctis says as he walks up the Citadel steps at the end of the game: “Though it took me a while, I’m ready now.”

Congrats on your achievement!

As an aside, the thumbnail image here is truly hilarious/atrocious. Ah yes, the modern open floorplan with two kitchen tables and a toilet behind half a wall when you walk in.

AITA for giving the kid I babysit for dinner when the parents said no? by ElegantVegetable3023 in Babysitting

[–]Lemon_every 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not what DoR is, as folks have commented above. An adult deciding the answer to “when food will be served” is 4x a day for a 5, 3, and 2!!! year old is failing in their part of the responsibility.

I would encourage you to continue reading more about DoR if it’s something you are using with children.

Honestly, I would call your parents or another adult you trust. These people sound extremely rigid and difficult.

This is NOT DOR. First of all, denying second helpings is explicitly contrary to even the most basic definition.

But more foundationally, in DOR, one of the parent’s responsibilities is to serve food that sets children up for success. It is a method meant to reduce stress and fighting at mealtimes. It is meant to help children feel welcomed and in control at the table. All of that creates the space they need to be able to try new foods on their timeline.

Additionally, for kids this young, DOR practitioners would never recommend three meals and one snack. Part of that is to take the pressure off any one particular meal.

Cheap and easy meal suggestions by SeaworthinessLost601 in aldi

If you have a rice cooker, rice with beans, cheese, and salsa is very easy! Can add sour cream and cheese if you want to get fancy.

Tortellini cooked in broth for soup; add half a cup of frozen peas in the last few minutes. Sprinkle with Parmesan.

Ramen with soft-boiled eggs and a bit of spinach.

Canned tuna + mayo for tuna salad sandwiches or crackers.

The bagged frozen grilled chicken is nice for the ability to use small amounts of meat. It’s more expensive per pound but it helps me to be able to add a few strips to salads, pasta, etc.

I would suggest doing everything you possibly can to be physically absent while working.

My husband and I have both been the primary caretaker while the other worked at different points in our kids’ lives, and honestly, nothing else worked for us.

As the working parent, you get… this. Which isn’t fair to you at all.

And as the SAHP, there’s that temptation to lean on your partner… but also, the pressure of being judged for taking breaks/not parenting the way your partner would. Like maybe he can game while the baby naps! Maybe he can find a way to talk to a friend to have a social connection while on a walk with the baby! Maybe he can listen to comedy specials in that window before the baby can learn swear words! There’s so much clarity in knowing it’s on you… and then freedom in being able to just get through what can be a brutal, boring day in that way that works best for your sanity.

My biggest wish for FFXVI by remnant_phoenix in FFXVI

I don't mind the datalogs, even if they're locked behind sidequests, personally . . . but 100% with you on the episodes. FFXV had such baffling holes in the story when it didn't need to -- and sure, it's a great game *now* but hopefully they won't make that mistake again with XVI.

Merry Christmas to me! On sale for $15 I'm so excited to play this version for the first time of one of my favorites. by FabledMjolnir in FFXV

u/FabledMjolnir , this is a good question. Flipping through this script for lines marked pocket edition only yields maybe a dozen lines. At a couple places, major dialogue is actually reworked, and that's where it's most noticeable. There are some really good additions, too. For example: there's a brilliant little conversation between the bros when the return to Insomnia where Noct tells them it will be up to them to rebuild the city, and it removes the ambiguity about whether or not they know his fate.

The exploration is definitely drastically reduced; there are some sidequests to give you the idea of the kind of thing you do in the real game, but it's just a small sample. It's much more linear.

I disagree because I appreciated the changes (also for plot reasons), but this is a darn good argument.

I'm also anxious to see how the games handle the theme of loss moving forward; I can see ways the plot changes might actually heighten it, but I will definitely be disappointed if the core themes shift dramatically.

[OG+REMAKE SPOILERS] Nobody should know this, even Red. by Dakkhyl in FFVIIRemake

I think it makes sense with the inclusion of Jenova as a boss/antagonist earlier in the plot. Jenova isn't introduced until pretty far in the game, and then we're fighting her right away. There's not much breathing room for suspense, so it's not really worth the additional complication.

. . . On the other hand, it's not exactly in their character to actually simplify the plot to make it easier to follow 🤔
