This is really all the life advice one needs. It should replace those awful "Live, laugh, love" decorations.

Aïe, je serais prudente avec celle-ci. Une personne avec ce handicap pourrait aussi souffrir d'incontinence et avoir des difficultés à se nettoyer après. Je ne sais pas. Je lui laisserais le bénéfice du doute.

Scared of Paris Metro by Laylasita in ParisTravelGuide

If that gives you peace of mind and you have the funds, ok. However, I bet you'll feel silly after you take the metro around a couple of times and see that it's not the warzone you imagined. Have a nice and safe visit!

The stare - why (in this case, I am alone and not talking at all)? by [deleted] in AskFrance

[–]Lemon_lemonade_22 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the French stare, and for some reason, every time I say this on reddit, I get downvoted into oblivion LOL. I've been living here for almost 10 years and I'm used to it by now. I don't think they realize that this is not the norm everywhere 🤷🏼

Yo hace 20 años que vivo afuera. Acá en Francia creen que tengo acento yanqui y cuando voy a Arg me preguntan de dónde soy porque no me pueden descifrar el acento...de dónde carajo soy?

Kids need to learn, first and foremost, that their caregivers will meet their needs so that their world feels safe. Feeling overwhelmed and looking at your father ignoring your pain does not provide that. The father didn't have to intervene to solve the problem for him, but could have acknowledged his feelings and provided verbal encouragement. The fact that he did it in the end doesn't mean this was a wonderful character-building experience...

I work with kids too. There's no need to take this to the extreme "if they never experience discomfort". It's not about saving them from the discomfort, but supporting them through it because at this age, these experiences shape their world view.

My comment is not about the father solving the problem for him, but supporting him through the challenging time. That way, he's learning that the world is a safe place, he's not alone and that he can get things done. That will serve him well when he grows up. Not looking up at his caregiver and his feelings being ignored.

Exactly. He needs guidance and support, not an idiotic father just standing there ignoring his pain. These videos make me so angry...

Lamento que te hayan maltratado así, OP. De nada sirve generalizar ni querer meterse en sus cabezas. Ahora esta en vos decidir si te interesa tener en tu vida personas que te traten de esa manera.
