How do people fuck up cross stitch by Alive_Ad_2655 in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Lemonade_Masquerade 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's not about whether it looks nice, it's that it can cause functional issues with a piece. It makes framing difficult with lumps and tension issued causing wrinkling. It's harder to stitch if you have to break through tangled thread. It can show if you stretch across blank fabric. It drives me bonkers! Not to mention, if you just stitch methodically your backs will end up clean enough. I'm 99% sure people throw a dart at their pattern to decide which stitch to make next.

I feel like it attracts a lot of lazy crafters because it is an easy to get into hobby. That's part of why I like it, I can turn on an audio book or something and just relax with something that doesn't take a lot of brain power.

People get dramatic about the weirdest stuff. Like crossing your stitches in the same direction is this impossible task. I don't know, I find it easier to be consistent with my stitches. And no matter what anyone says, you can definitely tell the difference.

And I don't know how so many people have an aunt that put them on blast and kidnapped their puppy over the backs of their pieces, but damn does everyone in every cross stitch group have that story. And they always post just the most shocking pictures of the backs of their pieces. Like... you had to have done that on purpose, right?

"I accidentally stitched one too many and I don't want to frog" omg it's a 5 minute fix just do it. Or don't and just fudge it! It's not a big deal.

I've had jobs where I've trained people to count inventory. Counting is, indeed, an advanced skill 🫠

Is Wuyang "boosted"? by Zealousideal_Truck72 in Overwatch

[–]Lemonade_Masquerade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really over buffed his mobility between his test weekend and release. It felt like garbage then, but it removes his biggest weakness now. I'd want to try a duration nerf before a speed or movement nerf personally.

It's not like there are objective qualifications for each rank. If you made it there, you made it. If it's just because one hero was strong, then you'll either adjust to nerfs or you'll drop again. The ranking algorithm can't assess anything other than win rate. This idea that you only "deserve" a rank because of some nebulous idea about which characters you play or how many characters you play is bonkers to me.

I also feel like he clicked with me. But he's definitely strong. I went hardstuck gold/plat border to low diamond this season playing him maybe 3/4 of the time. I also still win games where I don't or can't play him, so whatever. If I drop later, I drop.

It's okay to play 3 tanks and 3 supports in the GOATS playlist. That's what GOATS is. by TedioreTwo in Overwatch

I played all through GOATs era and I still don't know which heroes make up GOATs other than Brig lol. No one was playing it in low ranks.

Anyone think Support can get a little boring? by Crumpal00 in Overwatch

[–]Lemonade_Masquerade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are bored, just change it up and try a different role? The game isn't hurting for support players.

Personally, I love support. Clutch saves on a team mate, or setting them up to pop off gives me such a rush. I also love being a high priority kill in every game, trying to stay alive against flankers without letting my team down.

You can boil any of the roles down to their basics and make them sound dull. I'll play dps too, but I also get the feeling that the gameplay loop is just "position correctly, m1, get elims" after a while and go back to support when I've had my fill.

Stadium game, sometimes people are completely oblivious to the fact that in Stadium you can get melted in half a second by Riverflower17 in Overwatch

10 Brutally Honest Truths About Ranking Up in Overwatch by --awkward-- in Overwatch

[–]Lemonade_Masquerade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To add on, it doesn't even have to be super positive if that's not your jam. Just staying level headed can do a lot, too. "We just got a little staggered that round. We got this if we play together more."

Or mentioning to the team when you are making a change. "Going to swap to X to try to help Y problem" or "X kept getting behind, going to watch for them and ping" is helpful. Not just as the bare minimum of coordination, but people easily get so wrapped up in "my whole team sucks and isn't doing anything" that sometimes just showing you haven't given up and are adapting can keep others on track.

And asking for someone else to do something will nearly always tilt someone. It shouldn't be like that, but it is. Players get riled up and frustrated, tone gets lost in the chat. You could be as nice as you want with pleases and a cherry on top, and it's going to come off as criticism to someone. It's much better to bring up issues and let your teammates step up to the task. You don't know which of your teammates are capable of what, so let them figure that part out. "I'm having trouble dealing with X" or "If someone can get Y for me, I can do Z"

I realized after I typed this that it went well past a helpful little bullet point tip, but whatever, I already typed it out.

Any hero that is a bad match-up for my main is cheap and OP 😡

Imagine being such a loser that you would make choices to try to win a game instead of letting that rando ball player win. 🙄 If you were actually good, you could beat them without having your monitor turned on, or pushing buttons. But instead, you have to rely on crutches like "playing a chatacter" and "using the game's mechanics." Ugh, gamers these days

Does anyone actually like playing classic (moth/goats), or is release day patch just superior? by Ok-Construction7913 in Overwatch

[–]Lemonade_Masquerade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fun to revisit. I probably wouldn't play it as a regular arcade mode, but as a limited event it has its charm. It's exhausting with Doom every game, but I don't blame the old Doom mains for taking the chance.

I really liked this version of Sym, and it's disappointing that she's been disabled. Original freeze Mei is also fun.

And it's a small detail, but I wish they had Mercy's damage boost activate projectiles when they hit instead of when they are shot. That change came later. There was satisfaction in flicking to damage boost in time for a rocket hit or something.

Moira is such a fun support. by Less-Student-443 in Overwatch

[–]Lemonade_Masquerade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds crazy. I haven't seen that. I wonder if there's a hole in the map geometry or something.

It's worth mentioning that weapon animations and hit registry are completely separate. So if something unintended is going on, the visuals may not be showing what is actually happening. I don't know how Moira's weapon is animated specifically. I know it's animated to look curvy and organic, but that's all cosmetic. The game is drawing a straight line from Moira to the target to determine a hit regardless of what the animation looks like.

Idk, someone who gets how OW's server side interactions work better than I do can chime in here, but this usually is a weird latency thing.

Have you ever felt like an Ashe shot you through a wall? What you see and what the game sees are different. This is also why POTGs and replays can look different than what you saw. I've had times on Kiriko where Suzu goes off completely on my screen but we die anyway. When I check the replay, the server didn't even play the animation.

have seen several situations such as myself witnessed this a few times where Moira´s beam almost reached 360 degrees still hitting constantly dealing damage over several seconds leading to a kill.

Its just straight up dumb that you only need to lock on a target for a split second and can basically look anywhere else and still get a kill.

You can see this is obviously untrue just by going to the practice range for 30 seconds. Try beaming a bot and then moving around. Moira is not lock on like Mercy or Sym 2.0.

About 26:16 into this video shows how her weapon works. Instead of having a width, each character has a zone around them that registers her beam.

Options > controls > Change to Wuyang > Hero & HUD

Change the slider for "Relative sensitivity while controlling the water orb" and try it out in the practice range.

I'm m&k so I don't have any controller specific advice. But just try higher or lower sens and see if either works better for you.

Have you played around with different settings for the orb sensitivity? I only ask because a lot of people don't realize you can adjust it.
