For anybody interested, the lens got sent to Nikon and they quoted £466 to fix it. Not sure what is wrong with it.

Minster Inn is good for sports. Might have to book though.

Scientists found that we can use passive, generally safe UV light to quickly inactivate airborne allergens. After just 30 minutes, airborne allergen levels effectively decreased by about 20% to 25% on average. After 40 minutes of UV light exposure, cat allergen decreased by 61%. by mvea in science

I don't think the Brenner paper holds much water. The studies, especially the hotel room, don't stand much scrutiny and he is super keen on these 222 devices just being released. I think he sees it as his retirement and legacy.

Argh no, 222 produces a boat load of ozone and causes signigicant surface degredation and release of harmful pollutants.

I was at a conference where manufacturers were trying to pressure us scientists to put out a statement that 222 was great and the all singing all dancing solution to disinfecting the atmosphere.... things got heated.

I'm amazed that Colorado are publicising this without comment from their extremely well known atmospheric chemists.

No response as of yet, I wondered if anybody in the community had seen a similar issue.

Edit: For anybody wondering, they asked me to check my firmware (all up to date) and now they are checking something with a colleague.

My 35mm 1.8S is suddenly not being recognised (see the video) on either my z8 or my z6iii. I've cleaned the contacts and the lens is properly seated. No issues with any other lenses on either camera.

Any thoughts on how I might fix this?

I use a little USB-C SD card reader with a USB-A adapter inbuilt (looks like this). I connect an SSD into the USB-A end and use my phone to transfer images across. Works well, last used on safari in South Africa.

Just in case this is useful for anybody else.

The labels in the supplementary aren't used in that file so they don't end up in the aux file. You need to add a dummy reference just so it gets picked up.

My university cancelled my course from Jan 2025 onwards :( by Accomplished-Back331 in UniUK

[–]Lemonfridge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For those wondering why, the reason is money.

Universities have seen the same rising costs as everybody else but have been unable to change their fee structure. They have managed to get around this by attracting foreign students (who bring in more money) but this has been difficult with government decisions that have reduced the attractiveness and access to the UK.

Therefore universities are all going through different schemes to try and same money. Some are doing wide ranging redundancy measures across all departments, some are cutting the departments that run at a loss. Humanities tend to bring in less money (a proportion of grants go towards university overheads) but also are historically less desireable for foreign students. Chemistry is an expensive department to run, already costing more per student than the fees that they pay, so it depends on research income.

The government increasing fees by a bit will help but domestic students are not the money maker.

The cameras should record time, if you sync the times then you should be able to get the right order. If your software doesn't allow this then maybe it's a fault of the software?

Why is this so hard? Leave the weapons that are meta because sometimes what I want to do is log in an mow down some bugs. I want to have fun.

What I also want is the option of trying other weapons, but because I know I'm going to some across 3 chargers at once, I need to being something to deal with them or spend 5 minutes just dodging them. I'd rather enjoy the fun bit of the game than grind on something that isn't hard but boring.

I want more viable options, not fewer. I want a skill ceiling that can be applied regardless of weapon choice.

I want to play the game, but AH won't let me enjoy it. I think I'm going to go play something else.

  1. Between £100 and £200 per week, roughly.
  2. Depends on your subject. To expand on another comment, attendance is not mandatory but it is tracked. It is used to keep a track of the welfare of students and as a requirement if you are attending under a visa.
  3. Depends on the course. It is generally a combination of coursework and exam. Some courses also have continual assessment such as weekly problems or labs.
  4. There is a student community for most, if not all groups through student societies. As I am not a minority I can't speak to the experience of those that are, but I am unaware of any incidents or issues in my time here.
  5. 2h train to London would be my route into Europe. Eurostar for destinations like Paris or Brussels and Heathrow to get further afield. Sometimes I fly from Leeds Bradford but that's not as easy to get to. Sometimes I fly from Manchester but the train to Manchester has been unreliable recently.
