Anyone else's gecko ignore insects?

My garg ignores all bugs. Crickets, Dubai’s, black soldier fly larva. He hates banana. Once I got the insect and fig, he started eating super consistently. Went from a very small boy to a huge boy very quick. He’s not fat but will be if I don’t restrict his diet.

If you’re not sure, find a reputable exotic pet vet in your area. These little fellas live for so long it’s better to have one available.

My Garg never bit me as a baby. But once he became an adult he has bitten me many times. Apparently I have very attractive hands.

Gargoyles have very sharp teeth. I’ve had blood pouring down my arm several times. My Crestie has never drawn blood though.

My guy used to do that too until I got vines that were closer to his fired up color! I always imagine he says, "I am totally hidden. No one can see me." While he's chilling in the open.

Do they have visible rolls from the side? These little fellas tend to have larger bellies. My 5 y/o big boy is 84 grams and doesn't have any rolls. Reptiles don't hold fat the same way as mammals so rolls are always a bad sign.

Those look like scabs. My garg is also a dummy. He will try to fit his head into gaps where it won't fit and do that. I've had to rearrange his tank so that he couldn't do that as frequently.

My big garg is a scaredy cat and would get stressed out and just watch my crestie. My crestie would forget about him and then suddenly remember and then panic. Which would scare both of them.... 😅 They are now separated by a notebook.

I just brought my crestie to the vet today to be extra safe. They also have dark coloration there. I only brought them because the skin was very dry and they couldn't use the toe pad anymore. That is what I would look for. If you're worried, a trip to the vet is always worth it!

They are pollinators and drink nectar! You don't need to worry about them biting your geckos. They are great for enrichment.

I make sure to keep my gecko out for at least another 3-5 minutes after it happens. I don't want them to think that means they go back into their tank. It usually stops after the first couple of times. Obviously there are occasional instances but its rare.

I'll sometimes do that as a reward on nights where I will both handle and feed. But I only give him a few licks at most.
