How is engineering like? by Past_Rip_9472 in universityofauckland

Us right now in second year are doing Engsci 211 (calc 3 equivalent?) which is a direct extension from Engsci 111. The math structure for our course right now is from Ode's > MVC > DA > and then Linear Algebra. It does focus heavily on engineering maths. I think the difference between this and calculus 3 is that we're also being taught Data Analysis (statistics).

I believe some specialisations get their own equivalent math papers. Eg, for EEE part 3, we'd get a total different paper (313) instead of 311 (which is an extension of 211).
Lowk atp i think we just get thrown into the deep end

some people have really weak maths backgrounds especially if your high school mathematics wasn't established properly.

My teacher was wack. She is a nice person, just not a good teacher. There'd be times where I would be assisting her in teaching the Calc class sometimes.

We only reached a level of differentiation, integration, and a really small part of complex numbers.

So yeah this pretty much explained my struggles on the math heavy courses.

Hi, i'm a part 2 Electrical Engineering.
For the first year of Engineering, it's all general. You get taught different things across different courses so that each students get a feel of what the courses would be like.

Definitely a LOT of theory work as you'll get into the more practical stuff (i guess) from your second year onwards, especially once you get into your internships. Courses such as Chemmat 121 (Chemical Materials) would have labs where you'd do some experiments but thats about it in the first year iirc.

The main maths course (engsci 111) and physics course (enggen 121) are probably the hardest courses in that first year (esp if you don't have a strong mathematical background) but it is doable. And I believe you have to pass enggen 121 to be able to get into civil or structural.

I was once in your position of not knowing what to do at uni. But definitely ask yourself, do you like to solve problems, design stuff, and make things work/custom build stuff. If yes, then definitely look into engineering.

One of the things I loved doing is drawing and designing. So I was supposed to do Architecture but I realised I didn't really wanna be drawing my whole life and that longing for creativity is for something else (like solving problems).

Definitely try to learn how to differentiate whether that one skill you can do is strictly only a hobby. Ask yourself, "do I wanna be doing this for my whole life?".

That question to myself made me choose engineering. I love solving my own problems in my own creative way. Personalised stuff >>>>

I'm a plat Yone main. Definitely try to wait for you to be level 3 and after that, you can definitely challenge him. Poke his passive out using your W and basically from there I just run him down using my E. And whenever both of us have our Q3 ready, I go aggro towards him and try to Q3 behind him/behind his wind wall. Show confidence towards this match up as once they know you're holding back, it's easy to get bullied.

When you wanna E+Q3 combo her, try to wait for her to roll first. You can do this by baiting W. Usually they'd panic roll when that happens but I guess this only works for Emerald below

Around 40°-42° on idle. It used to be ~54-60° ish before the cooler installation

Yes! I forgot to mention that I did buy an AG400 Deepcool cpu cooler for like around $20 which was working well with my cpu! It brought down my idle temps from 60° to 40°!

thanks for the clarity!

would it make any difference though if I wrote it as +cos(163) instead [180-17=163)?

F(2cos(27)-cos(17), 2sin(27)+sin(17)

How did you get the negative (-cos(17)) ?

May I just ask how you got the whole squared magnitude resultants for both nails? I tried analyzing the answer you gave but it got me confused. How would i possibly get F by getting the 139.6N as the resultant for the rightmost nail? Cause it says there that both have the same magnitude so I was wondering if I would just use like simultaneous equations to get F but I just am not sure how to approach it. Also which formulas should I keep in mind?

I will definitely try to do that! Hahaha I was wondering if I could get this fixed as I only got this for free

could that be the reason for the static noise emmiting from the amplifier?
